They are all the same pressing The German release is identical to this one and the USA one. It's the extras that make some editions the selling point.

I'm pretty sure the German (or U.S.) one doesn't have a 4K scan transfer.
Does it even have HD audio? I thought was just Dolby Digital 5.1?

This is a brand new upgrade to the other editions.

Missed it again :sorry: took me 6mths to get a £160 refund the last time I dealt with zavvi and that left a sour taste in my mouth. This just tops it off with their total incompetence.
Zavvi refunds are disgraceful. You have to keep chasing them up to see if they refund you or not. I'm still waiting for a refund after returning no country for old men. If you don't chase them up they will simply ignore you. Last message received was a refund error and had to do this again.

I would expect it's only 2,000 print run and would be at max 4,000

Sold Out for now
I still expect lot of customer cancelled orders from 29th October will end up back available as the price difference is a lot

I didn't bother with the hassle of cancelling and re-ordering since I used the discount code on the 29th and well... just look at what happened and how ticked off people got when it went up early. A few extra £ is fine by me if it means avoiding the typical Zavvi nightmare.

I think you are missing the benefits of reordering. You don't cancel then reorder. You reorder first then you cancel lol. That way you got nothing to lose. Those that missed out didn't order the original preorder live time.

Yeah but I wasn't even thinking about it all at 5:30 or whenever it went live. Actually meant to jump on but it slipped my mind. So either way I would have probably missed out had I not ordered on the 29th. More or less I'm just saying I'm glad I didn't have to worry about it even if it cost me a bit more.

I think even at £22.50 for a 1000 print run still sounds very good. The studios could had made more money on this, not in a greedy way. Be interesting to see if Zavvi will actually stick with 1000 print run or they are trying to persuade Eureka to add another 500 copies. I will not be surprised at all if more copies come floating about later.

I can understand Eureka not wanting to risk a standard 4,000 print run with the 2 other steelbooks (Das Cabinet Des Dr Caligari) and (Osamu Tezuka's Metropolis) as both of these will take a while to sell out even with been limited to 2,000 each and possible end up having a price drop.

Fright Night is lot more popular film by a huge margin than both of the 2 other steelbooks releases combined
Eureka could have easily sold 3,000 to 4,000 copies of Fright Night Steelbook and possible even more if it was available from all retailers.

Steelbooks can be a hit and miss for sales sometimes but this is one release that was from day one a certain seller I'm surprised and shocked at the low print run of only 1,000

Eureka will most likely release this on Amaray in the new year at some stage and will sell well but they missed out on getting big sales with the steelbook in my opinion

Yeah I thought this might have stretched to at least 2K as well just going by the TT release prices. I knew it had a bit of a cult following too but I didn't really imagine the interest would light up as high as it has on here and other forums. I won't be surprised if another bunch appear in the near future. And while having something rare is nice, I'd much rather see the fans who missed out get a copy without having to resort to buying from scalpers!

Some distributors don't want a high print run as well. They like to keep their releases limited and to follow the same theme as their previous releases you have mentioned. Maybe that's their way of selling, keeping them much shorter releases, and more collectible as opposed to money. Although they have a high cult fan base, they are not Hollywood block buster franchises so I can understand the safer investment of just a lower print run.

Have Scanavo dropped their minimum of 4K for Steelbook orders? Or was that a myth?

afaik this only applies to scanavo denmark (not scanavo hongkong), and i am sure with good business contacts (like zavvi) they are always willing to make exceptions.

still not convinced though that it's only a 1K printrun here. zavvi only said "1000 available", maybe they did not count the probably 1000 that were ordered on 29/10 and then mostly cancelled yesterday. still could be a 2k print run. who knows?

btw. i asked eureka via pm. on facebook, they read my message but did not reply....

I think there is more than 1,000. Zavvi tactics are just to declare 1,000 to increase the hype and the fear of loss due to the very limited print run. Once that is OOS then they stick in the other 500 or 1000 copies.

I don't think this will be more than 2K judging by the previous releases.

my assumptions and explanation of the whole story go like this:

many people pre-ordered for 24.99GBP on 29/10 when it was live by mistake for a few hours, then it went officially live yesterday, and everybody that already had an order in re-ordered for the cheaper price and then cancelled the old order.

so: zavvi "sold out" within 25 minutes, then said there was a "glitch" (when in fact they just received hundreds of cancellations of the 29/10 orders) and then made the cancelled orders available again, this time immediately, which is unusual, but given the supposedly high number of cancellations they received and the immediate sell-out it probably made sense.

i am confident that even people who ordered after 6pm. UK time will be safe with their orders.

what's more, we don't even know the exact print-run. zavvi only said "1000 available", but that doesn't necessarily mean that's the print run. probably they stated what's left (after the 29/10 orders), when in fact it could be a 2K print run (with 1000 available yesterday before the cancellations).

I agree, what we need is CONFIRMATION of the print run. NOT what is 'available'. For all we know there could be 4K and they are selling small batches at a time. It is a common marketing strategy.

Some retailers and film studios depending on the history of orders placed with scanavo can have print run less than 4,000
Zavvi have had 3,000 on Disney and 2,000 and 1,000 on exclusives not available in other countries.

Lot of the time though a steelbook release especially Warner range is a shared print run in various countries so the real print run is 4,000 or more

You give Scanavo an order of 2 different steelbooks to be made same time each been 2,000 the total = 4,000

The 1,000 Fright Night is strange considering both the 2 other steelbooks are 2,000 each but the overall total of the 3 titles is 5,000 steelbooks

Fright Night should have been at least 2,000 or 3,000 print run in my opinion
