The ES version has just had the title updated to indicate it includes the extended cut of the film that is a Best Buy exclusive (in amaray) in the US, which muddies the waters a bit...

Well that sucks for us just another way for us to double dip i guess

So the only way to get the extended cut in the u.s. is to get the best buy exclusive? Or I can get the e.s. steelbook. Any idea what the print run is for this?

I'm getting this steelbook and as we are getting the extended cut aswell I was either getting the uk version now or when it gets reduced and just slip it in.

About 12 to 13 minutes more, I think the Extended cut is 122 minutes

That's a pretty big difference. This and some of the Asian releases will have to do though.

Paramount screwed the US release of Rise of the Cobra by encoding the video at too high bit rate leaving less space for extras which were presented in standard definition on DVD. The International release had extras presented on BD in high definition.

I hope they don't cock up the US release by being silly but I am pretty sure it will contain both cuts.

I prefer a high as possible bitrate with extras on a separate disc. I was a big, big fan of those Superbit DVD's.

Where did you have this info from? I read the review at BD and extras were all in HD and same as the European disc.

Exactly. Give me the best possible AQ/PQ. After that, I don't care if they put the extras on a VHS.
