debossing makes this a winner :D:D
don't bother about glossy vs. matte

I love a debossed title but it depends on the matte finish. If it's like the Warner sandpaper matte finishes then it'll be waaaaay behind the US one. If it's a satin matte or zero type matte finish then I'd take that with the debossing over the US one.

EDIT: Just seen the very good video on the French thread posted by @Passion.steelbook so I assume the Zavvi one will be like this. Looks more a satin matte finish. The front looks good but I wish it has Spot gloss. The back looks a bit streaky. I like the bossing on the back too.

@Passion.steelbook I'm sorry but I don't speak French so I didn't understand the video but what's your take on the finish?

Glad I've just checked my Zavvi account because I have both the 3D & 4K editions on pre-order, Not sure which to cancel or should I cancel both and go for the standard Film Arena edition. :banghead:

Cancel the 4K as reviews for it are not looking great as opposed to the 3D version which is getting good reviews. Overall I am disappointed with Paramount AA they used to be the best Studio when it comes to Steelbook artwork and finishes but sadly they have resorted to cost cutting.

Thanks to the excellent unboxing in French by Passion Steelbooks it's crystal clear what we are getting (as if we didn't already know already lol).
Zero finish, de-bossing to front and back and metallic reflections in the red.
Can't say hand on heart, despite those nice touches, that it stand up well to The Americas edition and it seems (surprisingly to me) that a full gloss varnish makes a BIG difference with this particular artwork and colouring and now inclined to feel that all steelbooks painted in strong colours - like red - should have a full gloss finish.
Anyway, a few last pics of this same steelbook (from France) and however good or bad I feel it is it's clearly a crowd-pleaser and a big seller with the U.K. "Sold out" and 6.000 units sold online in France (reportedly now only available there to buy in-store). Also "currently unavailable" on Amazon.de:-

Steelbook looks great to me, yes a bit of spot glossing or full gloss would have been preferred, but I'm happy.

What I really want to know @zavvi is ...when is this back for pre-order ?, I missed out first time.

Will be going for the 3D version is possible..

Looks completely washed out. Why have they ruined this!!!!!

It should of been full gloss and debossed title. Idiots

so disappointed with this piece of shite

The UK versions is a crying out for some home-gloss modification! Where did that how-to thread go...

There's this interesting thread on another forum, which may be of interest . . . not exactly a "how to" or step-by-step guide and more an idea of the results that can be achieved by the brave souls who've taken the plunge.

It doesn't gloss over (lol) the pros and cons of home glossing - including cautionary tales - vs. factory glossing, spray can varnish vs. air-gun application - in a car body shop for example - including possible future spider-webbing and flaking of the finish.

I can only think that the two different finishes decision is more a business decision than a design decision . . . presumably designed to encourage double-dipping as both steelbooks, despite having the same artwork inside and out, are sufficiently different to pique the interest of the collector.

How it can go wrong:-
