From IMDB:
From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team–the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits–Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand - with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.
With: Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gilian, Djimon Hounsou with John C. Reilly, Glenn Close as Commander Rael and Benicio del Toro as The Collector.

I saw this last night and all I have to say is that this is a really fun movie that is worth checking out.

Saw this today and I loved it!
The plot wasn't up to much, but it was fun and packed with humour.
Also, due to the characters not being super heroes, there isn't any a predictable third of a movie dedicated to a power origin story. This gives the characters more time for banter.

The wife and I are in New Mexico until Wednesday, but we checked this out at a nearby AMC IMAX Theater!

WOW!!! :jawdrop: I abso-fu**ing-lutely LOVE 'Guardians of the Galaxy'!!!!!!  Move over The Avengers :ironman: :cap: :hulk:... this is definitely my NEW favorite Marvel film!

I just can't believe this film made me break down into tears... seeing the scene where Peter's mother passed away brought me instantly to when I lost mine. Very touching and powerful scene. I especially loved how it all came together in the end, from the letter and gift from her, and to why he calls himself 'Starlord'. Beautiful!

Every character was amazing! You wouldn't believe this cast would work onscreen, but BAM!!! They're fu**ing awesome!!! Especially Rocket and Groot! My new favorite losers, err I mean HEROES! ;) Also, this had the BEST damn use of 3D I've seen in years!!!

So in the words of Rocket, "OH YEAH!" Bring on the Blu-Rays/Steelbooks/ and definitely Part 2!!! :notworthy:

just back from seeing it, glad that i pre-ordered earlier, very surprised that "that joke" was kept in for a disney film. liked the message just before the additional scene at the end in the credits saying no raccoons or tree-like creatures where harmed in the making of this film

Awesome film! So much fun. Music, comedy, dancing, 3D effects...everything. :headphone:

I was sorta let down by Drax. I was expecting him to be much tougher. He got his ass whooped twice by Ronan, so I don't know how he thinks he can kill Thanos.

Saw the last showing of the night and got hardly any people in the theater to make noise and i could sit anywhere, lol.

I love this movie.I knew the Characters would be awesome and all but not this awesome.Rocket is a beast and so is Quil.I love that freaking Helmet he has.I think Chris Pratt is perfect for this role, just like Rdj was for Tony Stark.Batista was even better than i thought he would be.Karen Gillan was still hot to me even as Nebula. My sister was like "she is a freaking bald machine lady...You have a problem" .I can't wait to see where this story goes. And not knowing much about the guardians history makes me wonder what they are going to get up to in 2017.

The effects and costume design is insane. After seeing super i didn't think James Gunn had this in him, but i was pleasantly surprise .Also,Whoever did the effects for rocket and Groot deserve the whole budget. Those two were spot on.I can't wait to see the goodies they are going to have for the Blu ray release of this movie. If they give out an action figure, i will buy it at a high price!

Tied with Captain America : The Winter Soldier and Godzilla for me with the best movie of the year.

Ok, ok, I confess. I saw this three times this weekend - freaking awesome EVERY TIME! Did anyone else pick up these pins from AMC theaters?

PS - Chris Pratt is my homeboy from the same state and almost the same city. :D

Saw this yesterday and man what a fun movie it is!!

The whole cast were great and Chris Pratt was surprisingly great as the lead. Everyone has enough screen time to not feel overcrowded, just like 'The Avengers' did. Loved Rocket and Groot especially and I cannot wait for GOTG 2 that's for sure.

Some more points in spoilers -

We get our first proper look at Josh Brolin's Thanos.... when he kicks into gear later on in the Marvel universe it's gonna be epic IMO!

The worst part for me was the stupid end credits scene. I know it's Disney and all that but c'mon! Howard the fu*!?ng Duck??? FFS!

After this and with Avengers 2 out next year and the rest of the Marvel line up.... DC who???

DC and Warner Bros. certainly seem to be falling behind.

BTW, did anyone else think that the scene at the end, where Groot is bopping to that Jackson 5 song, that Groot looked a bit like Michael Jackson, when he was a kid, or was it just me? And if you're not sure, go back and watch the (whole) movie again. Tell your significant other that I said so!

;)
