If there is some embossing/debossing I might get this if it looks good with actual pics of the item. Otherwise, it's a pass. Still waiting on a deluxe edition with all of the making-of content, the extended edition, and lossless original-language audio...

the one i want the most(if the steel pleases me enough)
no chance of a new master i assume?

Highly unlikely. 'Hero' has had a problematic history on DVD and Blu-ray.
Until now, all Blu-ray transfers look thick and saturated. The Spanish Sony transfer is different, but bottom line it's not better than the Miramax.

And the audio ..... the Miramax DTS-HD Master is only for the English dub, not for Mandarin (as this is 640 kbps at 5.1). This is the same for the Spanish Sony edition; the 'Dutch Filmworks' edition is one of the few editions that does have a DTS-HD Master for the original Chinese Mandarin audio.

Sadly, the extended version (+ 10 min) was never released on Blu-ray.

I do not have high expectations on the video transfer. Hopefully Alliance will give us at least the DTS-HD Master for the Chinese Mandarin audio track.

The blu-ray needs to offer top video and audio quality or it will be injustice to all the beautiful scenes and sound effects.

Just me, I think the two orange patches spoil the cover.

Cheers,

I was afraid they'd use this art, too much black. There is some great alternative art work around they could have used but it always seems to be this. I suppose a glossy finish might redeem it.
