Steelbook & Collecting FAQ's:

Q: Where can I find a list of Steelbooks released?

A: blu-raysteelbooks.com

Q: Can I play movies contained inside Steelbooks on my Blu-Ray Player?

A: It depends-Blu-Rays are coded with Region A, B or C. Most Blu-Rays are "unlocked", regardless of what region they are, but it's always a good idea to check this forum or web resources before buying, as some are "locked".

Q: What are the differences between Steelbooks™, Iron Packs™, Metal Paks™, Viva Metal Boxes, Tins, etc?

A: Check out pics and discussion in our forum here

Q: What does "G1" and "G2" mean when discussing Steelbooks?

A: "G1" (1st Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a DVD-sized case. And "G2" (2nd Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a Blu-Ray-sized case.

Q: How to fix a loose disc on a steelbook you want to keep factory sealed that came with a floater?

A: Fixing a loose disc

Q: How do I navigate international shopping sites?

A: You can download a free 'add on' for most browsers called 'Google Translate'. Once you have it installed, the pages will translate automatically.

Q: I have many more questions-is there a general list of links to help me learn about Steelbooks, protecting them, etc?

A: Yes, here

well, i don't know if this is the right thread or room to talk about this.

just wanna know the average ticket price of your country's theater & compared to the price of the dvd/blu-ray and steelbook.

in my country, this is the average: (in USD)
movie theaters: 3-10
dvd: 10-20 (big six studios, they have to import the disc, which makes it pricey); 4-8 (outside big six, local movie)
blu-ray amaray, slipcase: 40-60 (crazy price indeed) never bought blu-ray from my local shop, always imported :D
blu-ray steelbook: 40-60 (still, cheaper if i'm imported & we don't have much option either)

EEK! Fariz, those price are INSANE! EEK!

Here in Canada:
Movie: 10 - 20 (Regular - 3D gimmick)
DVD: didn't buy a DVD in 2 years now! Think it's 5-25.
Blu-ray: 5-40
Steelbook: 30-45

Hey guys, need a little advice. Do the amazon sites still ship multiple steels all in one box or have they improved with some padding or bubblewrap? I got 4 SBs from amazon.ca and they all had minor dents and scratches. They were stacked 2 by 2, side by side, all in contact with each other. I'm about to order from amazon.de but i am a bit skeptical. I've seen some posts where this is the case and damaged steelbooks are almost unavoidable, which sucks bigtime. Anyone order from .de .ca .co.uk recently or even co.jp?

Ordered from .ca and not impressed. Steels packed loosely, as you say, and many arrived damaged. Ordered from .de and .fr and MUCH improved packaging. Each steelbook was wrapped in bubble wrap and then put into its own card shipper, and then all were packed into a larger master box. The overall condition of the received items was so much better that I won't even waste my time and money ordering from amazon.ca again until they upgrade their packaging.

It has to be said though that even these measures don't ensure undamaged steelbooks. Ultimately all the stock is pulled quickly from large warehouse stocks, and damage can happen at any time, including during the packing process. Nothing guarantees against dented steelbooks when buying from the large online stores.

Thanks VRob98, I can order form .de with confidence now. Sad that .ca shipping hasn't improved yet since there are many canadian steels i would like to own and don't necessarily want to get em from ebay for twice the price

I found a russian site where a lot cool Steelbooks are available that i have never seen before. For excample: Alien vs. Predator, Die Hard, Braveheart..... those are all G1 Blu-ray Steelbooks. Does anybody know if they are available anywhere else because they are not shipping outside of Russia but the Steelbooks look so awsome

I ordered 4-6 from Amazon.ca and although they all showed up stacked in a box, only the top one showed any damage. There was a cut in the front middle of the steel that was obviously there when the box was closed. They replaced it and told me to keep the damaged one.

You are right, there are a lot of Canadian steels right now that are sweet. You could order them one at a time.

True but the shipping for one steel is about $10 where as, say for example, 15 steels is $40 so you save $110. I wonder if contacting amazon.ca and asking them nicely to bubblewrap them will work but i doubt it. gonna try anyway

:DI'm trying to find some infos about JB Hifi...Didn't find a lot...:emb:
I just want to know how are their packaging? If someone has the experience, do not hesitate :D

The first item I got from them (Steelbook) was in a cardboard wrap around mailer which was great, all the other (Steelcases) have been in a (thick) bubble mailer, not so great but no damaged ones received as yet.
