Plain Archive is excited to announce the release of I Saw The Devil Steelbook. We've been asked by Blue Kino, another Korean Blu-ray company to design the Steelbook edition which will be PLAIN ARCHIVE's exclusive.
We were hoping to release the world's first Steelbook edition of I Saw The Devil, but Zavvi announced its own before we could. The news made us reconsider the project, but with director Kim Jee-woon's support, we couldn't drop it.
I Saw The Devil Steelbook will be released under the approval of director Kim, and we are working on the artwork as we speak.
Best Regards
PLAIN ARCHIVE

For me:

Simple, gotta have them all.

Even though I don't like ZDT and Om Shanti Om.

I dislike even more having all releases of PA and then missing number xx or xx when I have them all next to each other ;-)

I saw the Devil
Om Shanti Om
Holy Motors
Oldboy
ZDT

For me......:scat: :D

Plus your pre order for Blue is the warmest Colour and your favourite movie Melancholia :p

I own :

#001 : Melancholia.
#002 : The Wrestler [full slip].

I have pre-ordered :

#004 : La vie d'Adèle (I'm calling it that, and so should Plain Archive :D).

I will get :

I Saw the Devil (one of my favourite films of 2011, exhausting, ruthless and so intense, I cancelled my Zavvi pre-order yesterday).
The Master (brilliant, and PA has my approval for adding more Paul Thomas Anderson films to their collection).
De rouille et d'os (I hope PA uses the original title on the steelbook - yeah, I hope it's a steelbook too, I mean there's "rust" in the title).
Holy Motors (I haven't seen it yet, but it got lots of accolades and I approve of PA working on French films).

I'm not interested in :

#003 : The King of Pigs (not the kind of film I want to see, much less own, I'm not into films not meant to be enjoyed).
Om Shanti Om (same as above but for different reasons, it just looks stupid).
Zero Dark Thirty (I love it, but I already have the Dutch steel, and my PA collection is going to have holes anyway).
Oldboy (I already have the UK steelbook, which suits me just fine, I'm not a guy who double-dips, it's one and done with me :D).

how will my financial situation look like by the end of the year if all these really come out 2014... maybe something like this:

Just these three for me:

I Saw the Devil
Oldboy
Zero Dark Thirty

I wanna get them all, and there is no way they are all coming this year. Considering they've got three out in seven months, I don't think eight more are coming this year!

Back to topic, I Saw The Devil is my number one, I might just double dip since I'm not getting the Zavvi one!

Who told you that you "are supposed to be bowled over by this release"? This steelbook is artwork. So while it may look like "nothing special whatsoever" to you, to a lot of other people it looks gorgeous.

Thanks for sharing your opinion, but I'll just keep my own.

I wrote that because the general consensus seems to be that it is the best thing since sliced bread - and frankly it isn't really - nor for that matter is the Zavvi version tbh.

Out of this list:

The King of Pigs
I Saw the Devil
Om Shanti Om
The Master
Zero Dark Thirty
Blue Is the Warmest Colour
Rust and Bone
Holy Motors
Oldboy

I'm looking forward to these the most:

The King of Pigs
I Saw the Devil
Om Shanti Om
The Master
Zero Dark Thirty
Blue Is the Warmest Colour
Rust and Bone
Holy Motors
Oldboy

(Yes, that's all of them.) I'd really like to meet with Juno Baek someday. He's got an excellent taste in movies, IMO. Not to mention his keen eye for beautiful slipboxes and steelbooks.

For most people kimchi releases are about the whole package and they are one of a very select few retailers whose exclusives get better and better with each release.

The anticipation of this one and what the potential 1/4, full and lenticular slips could look like is what causes the buzz. Add to that all the extra goodies and this will almost definitely be the very best version of this film in the market. On a global level.

I never really rated sliced bread, so for me this (and other kimchi exclusives) are the best thing since. :)

The artwork on this is pretty cool too imo

This is a Plain Archive release, not Kimchi ;)
