Zavvi lists the price and not Disney...Zavvi can sell for £1 or £1000 or anywhere in between...

I think Disney do have an influence on the price. It also depends how much they sell it to Zavvi. If Zavvi can sell it that high, Play.com would had done the same with Iron Man when it was selling like hot cookies.

A seller can mark any price if it's a private sale like us.

What???

Right side circled in green is ok, there is some depth between the front red metal and the pattern behind.

Left side circled in red is bad, it looks like some bad opacity blending and as we can see from the top right the texture of the metal which is painted red is not at all patterned and is more brushed steel effect why the the left side made to look like the red is painted onto the strange pattern below and worn off.

I hope that makes sense to you lot as this art looks tard to me!!!!

You can see from the art which has been used for posters and the German SB that the pattern is the bottom most layer of the IM suit, so really does not work when done in the style which is shown on the left side of the art above.

I think you are taking this to the nth degree of nit-picking. ;)

If you really want to argue the physics of the revealing of the pattern from the chain-maille style layer under the armour, it's quite easy to imagine a scenario where a blast from a projectile has thinned the paint and weakened the metal, and further abrasion from a couple of scrapes has left the red painted metal and maille melted together. :p

It's fine to dislike the art but on such spurious grounds seems a tad bonkers.

I actually like it. Would be quite happy to see a similar theme used throughout Phase 2 releases - nice embossed logo/icon styles in the centre, maybe using the Tesseract if it features in Thor or Avengers 2, Hulk's fist, Cappy's shield etc.

It was more the fact its a quick photoshop job using the blend opacity feature rather than to do with anything else.

If both areas where you can see the underlying suit were same style then fine but one looks good and the other section is just a 1min opacity blend which most can do in photoshop.

A seller can mark any price if it's a private sale like us.

For example, an authorised dealer (AD) such as Goldsmiths that sells a brand high street name watch such as Tag Heuer cannot change the price. If the AD supplies this to another party then that person can mark it to whatever they want. If Goldsmiths start charging anything they want they will be breaching their contract or license with the supplier and Tag will no longer supply them.

The AD negotiates with the company a price for what they pay Tag, which also depends on how well they sell the watch. But Tag dictates the retail price. That is why you see the same prices in all the High Street stores. But online where you see discounted savings they are not AD.

Although maybe a little different from steelbooks, it's a similar thing and giving an example.

I think it looks awesome with those red and green circles on it. Are they embossed debossed super dupper lenticular 3D circles?

Wreck has said that Zavvi were unhappy about the price of The Jungle Book and The Little Mermaid but that they had little choice. Of course it could be a load of rubbish, but Disney always command premium prices, so I would say it is true.

Yes, I seem to remember now that comment

Yes, snooloui pointed that out. I think the IMs were a different deal with a different Studio / Retailer though.

I think Zavvi have to pay more for licencing Disney titles though don't they - That's why Jungle book and Little Mermaid for example is more expensive

But Nemo and Aladdin were cheaper...Maybe Disney are selling though at a higher price because their Steelbook titles are in such a demand? That's what I would do EEK!

Yeah that sounds logical. Every profit driven company would be stupid not to do that. Disney now found out that we are willing to pay anything they want...

Yep it appears so, Disney's have their reps that read the forums and see how fast steels are selling so they can report back to the studio and market their prices.

If I was Disney I would do the same :) It's business. It may take a little longer to sell out at £22.99 but it will be OOP and they know that. That's what their reps and employees get paid for - to make as much money for the studio.

If Play.com sold their Iron Man for £20 it would still be OOP before release date. But Paramount were generous with their wave of releases :)

I wish the whole Avengers franchise was completely owned by Paramounta as the artwork could have been in line with IM1 and IM2 which has Iron Man himself on the front. Shame that it went to Disney as they are known to shortchanging UK / EU customers by deliberably excluding bonus contents and special features.

Yep, its best to have the same studio that owns the right for a franchise. I wonder what Thor 2 (distributed by Disney) would be marked for and how different the artwork will be compared to the first. We might see just a Thor hammer instead :p

Yeh, i no what you mean. With the Avengers (or Avengers Assemble  ) in the UK, there was no audio commentary on the disc, i cant remember if the German edition did, but im sure the US got it... :(

But then again that was Paramount... :dunno:

No, that was Disney.

The UK (along with ather parts of the world) got the spear scene cut, and lost the commentary. Disney also love to leave features off in general, drop second discs and certainly leave out the DVD version in almost all their Blu-ray releases. They also never include the 3D version in the steelbook edition (unless someone knows otherwise).

As it stands right now, I don't like this at all. I think I might be going with the Czech 3D version. I never dreamed there would even be a posssibility that I would be passing on a Zavvi exclusive Iron Man :(

To me, this is ugly as sin. I wasn't one of the people "hoping" they'd release something to match the PLAY steelbooks, or any other releases, for that matter. I like artwork unique to certain countries / retailers...but this is just horrible. Let's see what the German one ends up looking like.
