Old infos:
Note About Ordering From Entertainment Store said:
They will ONLY DELIVER TO UK ADDRESSES AT THE MOMENT.

A way around this: (confirmed by retailer thats its ok)

1) Order directly but add a UK HDN members address for delivery
OR
2) Ask a UK HDN member to kindly order it for you

So please be careful when ordering because if you've put an address outside the UK your order will be most likely be cancelled by Play.

Is anyone actually going to remove the shrikwrap and watch the film?:D

Done. Hadn't seen it until yesterday. Was a little worried that I wouldn't enjoy it after spending so much on it. Glad to say I really enjoyed it, no brainier action! :scat:

P.S. Mine also has a very faint scratch down the front to the right of Reacher's face!

I understand your point though Strikeman. If it does bother you then they'd probably ask you to send it back for a refund.

I am definitely going to keep it and not risk sending it back for a replacement as it will probably come back with the same scratch. However I was wondering whether there was an Amazon type solution where a part refund is issued.

I'm in 2 minds whether to pursue it. As it’s their first exclusive, I don’t want to contribute to a problem that isn’t really their fault that might impact the likelihood of future releases from them!

I'll see how you guys get on with your responses :movie:

Thats what the amaray is for, this will remain sealed on my shelf.EEK!

Films are meant to be watched, not kept sealed up in a plastic wrapper. If you're looking to keep the value of the steelbook intact or raise it then fair enough - keep it sealed. However if you're looking to display it and have no regards to devaluing it, then open that baby up!

Personally I prefer to open my steels, however I do admit to keeping some in their wrapping to increase their value. I have to fund this hobby somehow! :hilarious:

Hi,

Thanks for your email.

We have identified a manufacturing problem with the entire run of Jack Reacher steelbooks where there is a faint scratch running from the right of the last R of Reacher down to the BBFC logo. This affects every copy.

We are speaking to Paramount this morning about a resolution for this, but it is unlikely to be clear what this is until the end of today (Monday) at the earliest.

Therefore there are several options:

1. We can send you another copy of the steelbook, but it will have the same scratch on it. You can then return your current one to us and we'll refund your postage costs.
2. You can return your steelbook to us for a full refund including the cost of the return postage.

Option 1 is clearly not perfect, as ultimately you are very unlikely to receive a pristine copy given that it impacts the whole run.

There is an option 3, which is to hold on to your current copy of the steelbook until such a time as we are able to provide an update on what we can do to resolve this.

If you do wish to return your steelbook for a full refund, please send it to:

The Entertainment Store
PO Box 7780

Thanks for your patience with this, and let me know if there's anything else I can help with.

Regards,

Luke

Optipn 3 sound like a possible reprint (where they increase the run to 5000) :D

Funny that people claim to be OCD but then could put up with a defect if the price was lower! :p

I'm really excited to see another source of exclusives in the UK and I hope this doesn't set them back too much. Now, let's be having that print run then

EDIT - Seeing that above option 3, let's say they manage to get a small number reprinted to ensure I get mint copies. I'm going to be even less likely to return the potentially rarer defect copy!!

Guys give ES time to reply they will have come in today to a huge amount of emails and will have to go through them to enable to get a proper idea of the amount affected.

As I was writing this post a reply came in from ES,

Gees by the time I got this post typed there were 2 others :hilarious:

So there you go we all have an answer all are affected so no point in returning them, Option 3 is my choice and with them all being the same I doubt it will harm the collect-ability/value of this release.

I feel sorry for ES with this happening to what should have been an epic start for them, I for one will not be put off by this and look forward to there next release.

I rather they kept the print run low, and there was a faint scratch on the steel. Once we get a number on the print run, I'm willing to bet people will be wanting to hold on to their copies. Wreck strongly hinted that nobody would have a problem reselling this if they wanted to, he even urged anyone to pick up a copy if they hadn't done so already. He wouldn't have said that for good reason. I believe the run for this may even be around the sub 500 mark.

I like how it sounds as though a human actually replies to emails rather than the computer-type responses you get from most companies. Something small like that alone encourages me to give them the benefit of the doubt here.

Thats exactly what I was thinking!

A reprint run, with possibly a much larger amount, would make this edition "rare", possibly;)

I received mine today. Unfortunatly i have two scratch marks

I understand its there first release[I really encourage that] and its not there fault, but these scratches are far to big to be ignored. They should have hired a OCD collector and got the steelz quality checked before shipping :hilarious:.

After reading back the whole thread reference scratchgate I dont want option 3 to be a re run of 4000 copies at all. I think most of us are the same and would suggest Paramount or ES offer all of us a partial refund = end of story.

That's not one of the options though. Full refund or keep it is the message I'm getting from that email

Probably all in agreement that the last thing we want is option 3 = increased print run! :ohno:

if anything you'll have to pay more, as they'll bill it as 'entertainment store exclusive jack reacher faint scratch steelbook edition' then everyone who bought a copy would be like 'jee that's bound to be more valuable'

you'd have all spent more money on an even more 'special' limited steelbok and paramount and ES make more money everybody wins problem solved

I didn't get this but I would go for full refund regardless if its a small print or not, these scratches are not small and look really noticeable, it would just annoy me but everyone is different.
