A way around this: (confirmed by retailer thats its ok)

1) Order directly but add a UK HDN members address for delivery

Well I'm glad some people are happy because I'm certainly not.

I still haven't received my original copy which now has to be presumed lost, no replacement is being sent for this and I've been charged last week for something I'm now not going to receive for another month. Poor.

Have you asked them for a replacement for the original order yet?
 
Just got the email.

I had to give mine a 2nd look over under light to see the scratch.mine had a small spec of paint missing on the front that i could live with but this is awesome news.

Yeah I was back and forth emailing Luke about the situation today and when I suggested a replacement for the original given that I'd already paid for it, it all went quiet and I haven't had a reply since, which I can only assume means one thing.
 
My message to ES is this (because I know they're reading), please put ES stickers on the next batch, something to differentiate between the first 500 and second 500. If you could number them then even better, although I understand that 500 probably means 550 (for damage/returns).

Opportunity lays within problems, it's how those problems are handled that sets one Company apart from another. What a great way to wow us all by giving the next set an improved finish with stickers on.

In fairness to ES, a late delivery isn't their fault. Mine only arrived on Monday - 2 days ago. 1 of my copies Avengers Assemble from HMV took 3 weeks to arrive!

We're all going to have to wait a month for our replacements, not just you.

You're not going to have to wait for anything, you just said you already got yours. You can watch your Jack Reacher tonight if you want, I can't.

Whether it's their fault or not, every other company I deal with take responsibilty for items going missing in transit. I've not had much dealings with TNT so I don't know if this can happen with them - maybe it will turn up, maybe not.

Give it a chance bud. If it's only one guy running things there then I guess there's the chance this JR scenario could be taking a bit of his time right now.

You're right, it's very frustrating and I'm a bit annoyed at the moment - the replacement copy is irrelevant to me at the moment, I just want the original. Was looking forward to getting this one, and even though I've yet to see the manufacturing problem, it likely wouldn't have even bothered me.
 
I am very impressed with the service of ES. Got the email today indicating I would get a replacement copy of Jack Reacher. I'll be looking to send a bit more of my business their way as a result.

Maybe sounds like a stupid question as I think generally us steelbook collectors are a fussy lot and demand perfection. But technically speaking most of the first 500 are mint it's a manufacturing error not damaged.

I only ask as I've noticed on ebay some of the most sort after vintage Star Wars figures had production errors or is this like comparing apples and oranges?:dunno:
 
Though you can't even see the defect unless you remove the shrinkwrap. I don't think it's going to make any difference to value since it is hardly noticeable. All that will happen is that this will be less rare than first thought. Good news for those who missed out as there should be a few cheap ones in the coming weeks.
 
Now I have full faith in ES after what has happened. Looks like they persuaded manufacturer in a customer friendly way but 27.99 is still too much for me. I really hope they keep the price at 17.99 and increase the print run or I am happy to pay more if they become blufans exclusive for the UK.

Well, for those of us that did order, it's TWO for £27.99 ;)

By the way, this applies to everyone who ordered, as i received the email and i didn't complain to them:

Thank you for purchasing a copy of the Jack Reacher Entertainment Store Exclusive Steelbook.

Our supplier (Paramount Home Entertainment (UK)) has informed us of a manufacturing issue whereby there is a very fine scratch running down the right hand side of the front cover.

As this is our first exclusive Steelbook, we want to make sure you have the beautiful mint Steelbook you ordered, not one with a scratch down the front.

Paramount has kindly offered to arrange for re-manufacture of the entire run of 500 Steelbooks (and no more). We, The Entertainment Store, will be automatically sending out a replacement copy to you free of charge.

There is no need to return the defective version you originally received – you are free to keep this.

However, if you have chosen or do choose to return your original copy to us for a refund then we will not be able to send you a replacement free of charge.

Creating new stock will take several weeks and this means you can expect to receive your replacement copy around w/c 27th May 2013.

Thank you for your patience with this matter, and apologies for any inconvenience caused.
