so i've never seen a 3d movie before, but i watched the demo they've got and its pretty freaking awesome, when i get the money i'm totally getting a 3dtv

also played around with the ipad for about 15 minutes. its pretty sweet. worth 500? no..worth 400? absolutely. was kind of underwhelmed with the fps game on there, but the simpsons game looked great. i could totally see myself using it more than my macbook. tho no flash makes browsing pretty crappy

I want the iPad but the lack of flash is a killer... I've considered getting the 3G one, but I don't really need another "phone" bill...

if I get one i'll get the wifi one... IDK. I'm in love with gadgets, but i'm torn on this one.

i think 3D tv would be great for movies, but not so much for regular tv. the cost of it doesn't make sense for me right now (maybe if i had more money to throw around instead of me being in uber debt right now ;)) plus you gotta buy the glasses which samsung sells a pair for $350 plus alien vs monsters. not really worth it IMO. ill prolly end up getting a 3D tv if the tech sticks for another 5-10 years, but im in no rush to get one now.

Sports in 3D is awesome!!!!:scat:

There's no way I'll get an iPad in the current form.

1. No flash? That means no Hulu, no Youtube (although they're experimenting with html5) or any number of streaming video sites out there, or sites like ESPN.com or whatever.

2. No camera? This is supposed to be a replacement for a netbook/laptop? At least that's what I've heard from people, yet there's no way to video chat? no way to take pictures?

3. No USB ports? So I can't even hook up my iPOD to it to charge it or whatever? lol

4. I'm locked into Apple for all my media purchases. I can't carry over e-books (if I was one of those people who bought those) to another device, and I can't move other formats over onto this?

I realize that it makes sense out the gate, but they're going to have to change that eventually.

5. No multitasking. From what I read you can't do a spreadsheet while listening to Pandora's music player or whatever at the same time. That's a BIG killer for me, as someone with ADD. lol

6. No replacement battery? That sucks as well.

lol nm, I'm an idiot and thought this was a diff thread. Yeah I think the ipad is stupid.

this is the only complaint you brought up that actually matters to the majority of people imo, and the easiest to do without really. there's already a hulu app in the works, and there's a youtube app now. abc has already converted their stuff to html5, and cbs will very soon. i would expect most of the bigger streaming sites will quickly move to html5 as well.

so no flash does suck, it makes browsing even some of my favorite sites like gizmodo look like ass, but i think the ipad is really going to push sites to do both flash and html5. which is win win for everyone really..means browsing on my cell phone will get better as time goes on as well :D

I think the Multitasking will be an issue, if you can't do more than one thing at a time.

Also how is the storage on this? Can't imagine you can hold too much videos or music on there. Not sure though.

they sell a 16, 32 and 64 gb. and yes, i agree no multitask sucks, but something tells me iphone os 4.0 gives us some kind of multitasking, maybe not what everyone wants, but better than whats being offered

that said, if you're expecting this to be a replacement computer, it is certainly not that at all.

I just got back from BB to play with the new toys...

Unfortunately, as much as it pains me to say this, the iPad is kind of a dud. I LOVE apple products. I have a MacBook Pro, a G5, an iPhone, and two iPods, but this little number isn't hitting on much for me.

It feels too big for comfort, but too small to compete with my MBP. It's like the awkward middle child of the iPhone and MBP.

They didn't have the bookstore on the phone, which I was most excited about, so that sucked... but I've since read that you're really limited to the books you can put on here, and if I can't do PDF books then it's a no-go... I read a lot of fan fiction, so we'll see where they go with that.

I agree that multi-tasking is a must. The iPhone and iPad are about to be left in the dust by the new phones coming out if they don't do something fast.

Then there's the 3DTV. I have to say it looked REALLY good at parts. I wouldn't own one, but it (honestly) looks as good if not better than 3D in the theater.

*though you have to take into consideration that this was footage shot specifically for the demo, AND a lot of films coming out were never intended to be 3D in the first place they were just made 3D in post-production...

was the demo not monsters vs aliens?

nope. There was nature scenes, some white water rafting, a truck mud-slinging, and some hot air balloons.

the tv they were most likely demoing where you are is the Panasonic 3D Plasma, the Samsung 3D tv's are all running Monster Versus Aliens, and to me it looked pretty awesome. if my coworker hadnt have told me about the Vizio 72inch 3D tv coming out, i woulda had that 55inch Samsung lol :D
