This one preparing for dispatch (with MONONOKE still "awaiting stock pick").
I expect KIKI to be posted later today or tomorrow with arrival on or around the 22/2 release date and t'other to be with me on or around its 29/2 release date.
Happy to double-dip on all of these SG releases, if I get the chance, and don't consider the GBP 28.78 paid for these 2 unreasonable when compared to the pre-order prices (GBP 19.99 if I remember correctly) of the previous 4 which were available everywhere and were certainly not limited to 2,000 each.
Only one question I'd ask the powers-that-be:-
1) Why only 2 this time, instead of 4 - WHY??? - 4 two years ago, 2 this time - I'll be old and grey before the collection is complete . . . LOL !
Anyway, when all's said and done, I'm a big fan not just of the films but also of the steels themselves and most happy that they've kept the same style artwork despite the two year gap separating the releases.
EDIT 22/2: My copy dispatched today with an estimated 25/2 arrival.
A bit of trivia on KIKI'S DELIVERY SERVICE:-
- First Studio Ghibli film released under the distribution partnership between The Walt Disney Corporation and Studio Ghibli. Disney recorded the second English dub with Kirsten Dunst as Kiki.
- Highest grossing film in Japan in 1989
- In Spain re-titled NICKY: THE APPRENTICE WITCH due to the original title sounding phonetically similar to "quiqui" (slang for intercourse).
EDIT 24/2: Arrived today and what can I say apart from "I love it" and that it perfectly complements the previous four.
No surprises regarding appearance and finish and nicely matching the others - appreciate the different coloured spine on each (which IMO is so much better than all the spines being the same colour) and don't mind in the slightest the fact that they've used different spine colours to the Amaray slipcover editions or that none are numbered particularly since other Miyazaki features can be included which are not part of the numbered Amaray collection such as THE CASTLE OF CAGLIOSTRO.
10/10
A guilty pleasure . . . and I would choose any of this collection before just about any other steelbook if I had to.
