And from Cult Labs Facebook page -

Just a little reminder that we'll be announcing Arrow Video and ArrowDrome's April 2012 slate along with a Spring 2012 preview right here and on the forums tomorrow around 1pm GMT. The announcement includes news of that mystery steelbook you've all heard about so keep your eyes peeled!

Now I'm a big fan of Arrow's work, so I'm very intrigued to see what they are going to announce!

Why are we getting all these old films that hardly anyone has heard of being released in steelbooks, it sucks!

Cant we even get proper oldies like the godfather, sat night fever, gone with wind etc, films that are acutal classics, like the scareface steelbook!

At this price hell no! they'll have to mark this down dramatically if they want it selling well.

Now that is a rediculous and very subjective comment. I assume you are also refering to recent Eureka announcement? Now lets see:
Island of Lost Souls - classic Hollywood horror, with Charles Laughton and Bela Lugosi
Lifeboat - Hitchcock, do I need to say more? Also: nominated for 3 oscars
Double Indemnity - one of the most loved film noirs ever, nominated for 7 Oscars incl. best picture, director, screenplay
The Lost Weekend - nominated for 7 Oscars, won best picture, director, screenplay and actor awards

Just because you've never heard of these films doesn't mean they are some random old movies. And what is this "scareface" you are talking about, I've never heard of that. Did you mean Scarface?

Let's keep it civil and respectful folks. I don't want to go back into this thread and clean up a bunch of posts.

Thank you and happy Friday. :D

You can order Gone with the Wind from Amazon.ca

I think it's great that classic films are coming out in Steelbooks. Hope we see more in the future.

dude its cool this is getting a steelbook, besides from collecting steelbooks im a huge fan of arrow video releases. there cult classics are the top of my blu ray collection. This steelbook is just the cherry on top :scat:

I don't know what to think of this release...The artwork/colours are certainly different...I'll wait up for actual pix...Killer price for a catalogue item, £30!

All Arrow's SRPs are high..... though who has ever paid an SRP for a title?

Anyone seen this up for pre-order anywhere yet (aside from Arrow themselves)?

Can't believe all the negative comments aimed at me just cos I said they were basically milking the steelbook market with this, you woodnt normally buy this if it wasn't a limited steelbook.

And yes your all gonna say I'm taking bull!

But be totally honest if this wasn't a steel, you woodnt buy it and if you did...not on release at this price, come to your senses and realise some studios are only releasing catalogue films in steelbooks or other limited edition formats to sell more and milk the collector market!

And at £30 this is just the start of the studios pushing the price that they can charge for limited edition blu rays, especially steelbooks!

@Cooey-no, I've not seen it anywhere else. But I am sure if it appears elsewhere (Arrow's other BD's are at Amazon, etc), so lets see if the same happens here.

@Shay-there will surely be opinions on both sides of this coin.Collecting is 'gray'-some buy all Steelbooks, or based on genres, first time release, art, etc etc. No one is wrong here-tastes vary, based on a variety of reasons. Everyone has a right to buy or pass, based on their own set of collecting criteria:)

Hey Shay-absolutely! No, don't feel attacked. Like you, other members have a right to speak up and share their opinions-please continue doing so-if folks get out of hand, we will ask for them to all step back and realize that all of this is supposed to be fun!:)

It would be foolish for everyone to just sit here and accept any and all Steelbooks regardless of art, size, title, etc. When folks speak their minds disagreement will occur-it's only natural-the trick is to disagree, but still respect each other. We don't want a combat zone in our forum-we're a fun place to hang out. You guys (and your agreements/disagreements) are the reasons why the forum exists at all-keep the contributions and feedback coming! :scat:

Everyone is entitled to their opinion bud :oohyeah:

With regards to the £30, when you actually look at pretty much all SRP/RRP for any Blu-Ray, they are always near to the £30. I bet if you looked at the SRP of normal Blu-Rays like Captain America or Thor they would be £24.99, what you pay from a store is completely different, hence the £15.99/£17.99 you actually end up pre-ordering/paying for them from the likes of HMV, Amazon, etc.

People are taking this £30 thing way out of context..... remember it's an SRP, not the actual price you will pay when it hits other e-tailers.
