Sorry mate. Your response was too long to bother reading. Scanning through I did see the TV point mentioned again. That's like the third or fourth time you've raised it. It was an example. I could've used anything as an example, a rolex watch, a car..****.. A house. Values are constantly going up and down no matter how long you wait.. That was the point, but if you want to wait out every future manta release just "incase" you can get it for £15 down the road go ahead. Also, it just made me think, you said something to the effect of 'you're a manta lab fan boy Craig so of course you'd come to their defense'.. What am I defending?

No idea what you waffling on about lol. I think you misinterpreted the whole conversation. You mentioned that manta did their job, sold their steels and the only thing that hurts is the reseller. So I started its not just about resale values, its the possibility of HMV releasing an identicle steel of Manta's WEA for the sequel, if they release a sequel. You went MAD lol so why are you so defensive. Christ chill out lol  Now you are discussing rolex and a house???? Oh dear, maybe we need to a thread of who owns what. Rolex really? Wow I am impressed! I got rid of my Rolex Deep Sea a few years ago. Nice watch didn't need it.

Was he referring to your sh it or @sunnyx's? JK btw... I'm an innocent bystander and come in neutral peace amigos ;):)

Mr Mickles, are you inadvertently trying to stir the peace between me and Craig for your personal entertainment? :p
We all know me and Craig are best buddies, right? He just got off on the wrong patch ;)
I'm out of cold beer to keep you entertained

Yes, and still waiting for the WEA Blufans JUNGLE BOOK 2016 which should have been the WWA design all along but can you imagine that lovely steelbook appearing now chez Zavvi particularly as the zoomed in WWA is long OOP? Doesn't seem likely but maybe never say never.

No, but seriously, as you say most of the WEAs have not appeared elsewhere yet (just two have been pointed out so far - this one and GLADIATOR) and maybe never will appear elsewhere unless they are steelbooks for films that are deemed worth milking by the people in charge such as this one which has never had a steelbook release in the U.K.
Why did they choose this design instead of one of the others? Did the people in charge deliberately choose the artwork used on the Manta over the artwork used on the Best Buy or on others just for the heck of it / just to upset Manta and collectors of premium releases?
Fact is that official artwork suitable for this steelbook front is VERY limited with only two or three choices available and unless brand new artwork is to be commissioned . . .

Even if the steelbooks are as near as dammit the same it goes without saying that there's no comparison between the packages so nothing to really disturb the premium fanboys.

More likely that the cosy relationship the Chinese/Hong Kong retailers have with Scanavo, Hong Kong, is just so perfect for their purposes that their upset is magnified because the guys in charge have rattled their cage . . . but then again are they rattled because the same artwork is being used or because they have information that the HMV steelbook will be exactly the same as theirs?

Anyway, it's far from a given that the two steels will be twins separated at birth and this whole question could be moot as the HMV steelbook could be tweaked considerably away from the original . . . ending up not just with a different finish and no embossing but also the colour could be less white and more grey/silver..

Most eagerly anticipated regular steelbook release of 2017.

the bottom line is, there is no such thing as world exclusive art for a retailer when they dont own the intellectual property. They may get a studio to agree to give them that art for their territory, but most often that is not even in written word People dont like the liability, and that is why you see it rehashed and said retailer doesnt even care 3 years later to see another use the art as he is done with the title for those sales at release etc.

Studios do not want to have to go back and ask talent and thats why you see so much minimal art and pop art in the world today. Half a face, back turned to you, shadowed, or no likeness. Cause the studio owns the IP, not Brad Pitt. And for liability concerns they just avoid the real work of waiting for clearances and such. And some actors are so busy it just wont ever happen. An actor cant be bothered to keep approving art of them every month for old stuff. This is why the studios pimp Anniversary editions tho, cause besides it being cool and a chance to sometimes bringing new content but often you can get the actors attention again when its an anniversary. 10th, 25th etc. That is the time to strike and get new content and as much stuff out there as it keeps the wheelhouse turning for the brand for the years 11-X etc. to sell licensing of toys, merch, etc.

Comprende?

Rolex watches are almost guaranteed to appreciate in value (unlike the Manta Lab back catalogue)
I woudn't say appreciate. When you come to sell it you won't lose as much value as others because they are not collectibles. Unless you referring to limited editions etc. It also depends on how you acquired it. If you paid the RRP price and then come to sell it used, you would lose a fair chunk of value (like anything that is used). But if you sourced via a broker etc you still maintain some form of value of what you paid for it. Not sure what this has to do with steelbooks anyway lol.

I'd imagine this will be the rest of the 4000 print run left over from Manta and the reason that HMV have snapped this up is so they get the UK exclusive release for part 2

The steelbook is what I loved about the Manta release the most. It was a pity that I had to cancel my pre-order back then because of financial issue. So if it is really exactly the same one, this is my second chance, without having to pay premium price. So for me personally, it's not pointless.

^ Pointless release or pointless comment? Tough call.
A most welcome release for the U.K. being the first steelbook for KINGSMAN here and thus so on point as to be off the on point scale.

I'll resist the temptation this time to post images of pointless U.K. steelbooks that have had multiple re-issues and I'll ignore the inevitable comments that other (decidedly less attractive) KINGSMAN steelbooks can be bought in multiple territories.

I don't want to keep on about this issue but the comments above seem to have missed the point that the Manta Website states regarding their steelbook:
Quote: "WEA, Exclusive Steelcase designed by Manta Lab", Not 'designed by Fox', but designed by Manta Lab, therefore Manta Lab is the only company that can pass it over to HMV or any other retailer, effectively making it a 'Non World Exclusive Art' product.
