Again, its a movie and a steelbook nobody cared about, UNTIL it sold out - then all of a sudden it is another holy grail. Happened about 10 times last year with play.com steelbooks.

If it would be back in stock now for a week, people would start moaning and cursing play.com again and nobody would buy it anymore because it completely lost its appeal (rarity). Seriously, you could copy/paste the comments from this thread and put them in the Battle Royale thread...I wonder why so many old-school collector's are giving up the game right now...

I totally agree with your comments. I see nothing special about this steelbook at all, and the fact that it, may or may not, be play dot coms last ever steelbook has absolutely nothing to do with rarity imo.
I received mine this morning and I am very disappointed. The finish again is poor, missing paint and if it was not for the debossed bullet holes it would be like any other cheap play steelbook.
I thought this was supposed to have a gloss varnish finish? The edges seem to be finished that way but the front and rear are the cheaper matt finish. Did they decide half way through the manufacturing process to save some $$$ and drop the gloss coat???
Disc is definitely region 'b' locked.

(All the above are just my opinion. I got into steelbooks with the release of the beautiful 'The Green Hornet', 'Thor', 'Captain America' steelies (UK)...they were all classy and a beautiful product. I'd rather see fewer steelbooks being released in the future but of a higher quality/finish).

I know what you mean and while i do like the look of Lawless and the bullet holes, my copy is finished crap, with scratches, paint chips etc. It appears the pritining of these is now so large that QC has shot down. When i started collecting i rarely had a steelbook with a paint chip or an issue of any type, i wasnt as OCD on the quality back then but theyre still in good condition and i had hardly any returns. These days i send every other one back for a replacement - ive hardly paid for an amazon.de release as theyve sent two dud copies and refunded most of them!

The fact its the last play.com exclusive means nothing in my eyes; the first play.com exclusive doesnt exactly fetch mega bucks

Each to their own my copies turned up mint no scratches or chips and thw debossing to be honest bar the raid is probably the best I have seen on a steelbook I have had problems with qc in the past but only rarely spine slashes from play and amazon not to mention other retailers but it happens personally I love it and would much rather own the play exclusives than the endless rubbish germany seems to be churning out they really need to learn a thing or two about steelbooks IMO....

Received mine and it's pretty nice, the more I stare at it close up the more slight blemishes I notice but its a decent steelbook. The spine is nice and the debossing on the bullet holes is really something. Film is top notch too.

I ordered another two copies as my two had paint chips and my new copies were worse, lots of paint chips and scratches but I'll keep the best conditioned one as I like the movie, hopefully get a discount on the one I'm keeping lol that's pretty unlucky considering most people don't seem to have much of a issue with this release.

You are right, I totally agree. The steelbooks from Germany have such a bad quality (not always). I prefer to buy from the UK or Canada. And this steel shows why;)

I don't know why people wanted a high gloss finish on this? although it's not my favourite steel i own the matte background suits it as the guns and outlined characters stand out better IMO
