Major update from Choi 7/13/2013: [Mod. Edit: PLEASE READ]

Today I officially announced the pre-order date & time for 2nd round
as I said before, Kimchi will fix pre-order date & time based on UK time zone.:scat:

London (United Kingdom - England) Tuesday, 16 July 2013, 13:00:00 BST UTC+1 hour
Seoul (South Korea) Tuesday, 16 July 2013, 21:00:00 KST UTC+9 hours
Vancouver (Canada - British Columbia) Tuesday, 16 July 2013, 05:00:00 PDT UTC-7 hours
New York (U.S.A. - New York) Tuesday, 16 July 2013, 08:00:00 EDT UTC-4 hours
Paris (France) Tuesday, 16 July 2013, 14:00:00 CEST UTC+2 hours
Corresponding UTC (GMT) Tuesday, 16 July 2013, 12:00:00

-1x copy per slipcover (2x copies for slipcover was sold out too fast like 7 min, That's why kimchi put more restriction for quarter slip release)
-5x copies per lenticular

here is technical problem solved so far

after you pay via paypal, you will automatically return to main page of kimchidvd and you can go to order page to check if your order is completed.

(previous kimchi, does not provide automatic payment completed by paypal, only kimchi handle one by one to complete order by manually matched with paypal transaction. it's kind of big burden and many problem happened)

and another announcement for shipping

Small packet is removed, K-packet applied for all of item sold in kimchidvd
K-packet is slightly expensive than small packet but there is lots of benefits

- Printed slip with tracking number
- End-to-End tracking with delivery confirmation (No lost shipment)
- Reasonable cost than EMS
- generally takes 5-15 days (EMS: 5-10 days, Small packet 15 -35 days)

but some member are curious why kimchidvd changed shipping method

From T2 kimchi release, Kimchi handled more than 1,000 box to ship out to post office KR, this is a big volume of post office KR to handle only for one store.

so post office does not allow kimchi to accept small packet any more :(
and asked kimchi to change K-packet rather than small packet due to too many package in one or two day.

after changed of k-packet, pack & shipping process is much more faster than small packet and very reliable shipping method in terms of tracking.

even now, some of member did not received T2 kimchi after shipping process done at 26th June because no tracking available for small packet.

1 or 2 steelbook for shipping charge between small packet & k-packet is only difference around 2$

please kindly understand kr post office policy for massive volume of shipment like over 1,000 boxes and more powerful tracking for lost shipment protection.

Thanks

Yeh, that's what I assumed. On the site it says it's going live at 9am...
I'm not holding my breath for this so-called second round.

Folks... there is no way ON EARTH that this sold out in a matter of hours. T2 was available for weeks at 1,500 total print run for KimchiDVD.

Le Grand Bleu is not nearly as popular as T2, and has 2,000 print run.

Choi says the 250 copies of the 1/4 slip version sold out, so they sold out. Kimchi's "cart" system is a little odd, so it considers a copy to be "ordered" while it's just sitting in someone's cart. That's what might be going on with the lenticular version, as Choi stated before.

However, there is absolutely no reason to doubt what he's telling us. If he says the 250 copies of the 1/4 are gone, they're gone.

You don't just factor in the popularity of the actual film with a release like this. There are MANY people who love Le Grand Blue, but never managed to get the JP SB. There are also MANY people in it for a profit, and they know that people will pay up for that 1/4 version, considering there are only 500 of those.

Another thing to consider is the fact that, for a lot of people, the T2 release was an introduction to KimchiDVD. Naturally, said newcomers were reluctant to order from a "new to them" retailer. Now, after most of them received their T2 copies in great shape, and see them hoovering at about $100 already, it's much easier to confidently get in on this second exclusive. Hence, more copies sold in a shorter time period.

I'm in S.E. Asia and have internet access! Needless to say, I missed the first 750, but fingers crossed I'll get one of the next batch.

I think SBC28 is spot on with his comments. Jack Reacher took a while to sell out at ES, but as soon as people (scalpers) saw the price it was commanding on eBay, ES exclusives 2 + 3 sold out straight away.

I'll keep an eye on the thread for updates on the next release time.

Ok so i went back and checked and i selected

Gift
Write US$ 25 on customs slip & Invoice
Write US$ [ ] on customs slip + Online Invoice with the same amount.
We will write above amount on customs slip, and the online invoice will show also above amount.

Should i e-mail Tony and ask to change to Merchandise or not worry about this?

Only other international site i have bought from is zavvi and never had issues with customs.

TIA

You're in LA, VML. You don't have to worry about a thing. I ordered up to $300-$400 worth of stuff from Kimchi and K2DVD, and i always include the original invoice. Not once has a package been opened, or held by customs.

I have emailed Tony for clarification of my order but hopefully you guys can confirm. The status of my order is "Receipt of order". What does this mean?

I am able click on my order under My Account and see the full details of it but status confuses me with "Receipt of order".

There is also one other confusing part - the payment method. I used a Visa credit card to pay but the payment method on my order says Paypal! Any ideas why?

I just need to know if my order is ok AND if there was an issue with the payment, will i get a chance to pay again?

TONY if you are reading. I do NOT want to cancel my order (playforless)

Thanks

Well I missed it. I can't believe both initial allocations sold out so quickly. This is probably down to the fact that you're allowed to order eight copies per person in total. I think it should be a max of three in total, or two of each. It's probably also a result of a few people not knowing what they are doing when ordering which means that they'll be allocated a copy at $41.99 but not actually have purchased it and when it goes back into the pile, it will $44.99

Ah well, money saved I guess.
