Major update from Choi 7/13/2013: [Mod. Edit: PLEASE READ]

Today I officially announced the pre-order date & time for 2nd round
as I said before, Kimchi will fix pre-order date & time based on UK time zone.:scat:

London (United Kingdom - England) Tuesday, 16 July 2013, 13:00:00 BST UTC+1 hour
Seoul (South Korea) Tuesday, 16 July 2013, 21:00:00 KST UTC+9 hours
Vancouver (Canada - British Columbia) Tuesday, 16 July 2013, 05:00:00 PDT UTC-7 hours
New York (U.S.A. - New York) Tuesday, 16 July 2013, 08:00:00 EDT UTC-4 hours
Paris (France) Tuesday, 16 July 2013, 14:00:00 CEST UTC+2 hours
Corresponding UTC (GMT) Tuesday, 16 July 2013, 12:00:00

-1x copy per slipcover (2x copies for slipcover was sold out too fast like 7 min, That's why kimchi put more restriction for quarter slip release)
-5x copies per lenticular

here is technical problem solved so far

after you pay via paypal, you will automatically return to main page of kimchidvd and you can go to order page to check if your order is completed.

(previous kimchi, does not provide automatic payment completed by paypal, only kimchi handle one by one to complete order by manually matched with paypal transaction. it's kind of big burden and many problem happened)

and another announcement for shipping

Small packet is removed, K-packet applied for all of item sold in kimchidvd
K-packet is slightly expensive than small packet but there is lots of benefits

- Printed slip with tracking number
- End-to-End tracking with delivery confirmation (No lost shipment)
- Reasonable cost than EMS
- generally takes 5-15 days (EMS: 5-10 days, Small packet 15 -35 days)

but some member are curious why kimchidvd changed shipping method

From T2 kimchi release, Kimchi handled more than 1,000 box to ship out to post office KR, this is a big volume of post office KR to handle only for one store.

so post office does not allow kimchi to accept small packet any more :(
and asked kimchi to change K-packet rather than small packet due to too many package in one or two day.

after changed of k-packet, pack & shipping process is much more faster than small packet and very reliable shipping method in terms of tracking.

even now, some of member did not received T2 kimchi after shipping process done at 26th June because no tracking available for small packet.

1 or 2 steelbook for shipping charge between small packet & k-packet is only difference around 2$

please kindly understand kr post office policy for massive volume of shipment like over 1,000 boxes and more powerful tracking for lost shipment protection.

Thanks

I managed to get one of each. I assumed it was limited to one copy of each as It wouldn't let me add more than one copy of each to the basket... though, from reading the thread that's not the case!

U should add one of each then uptade quantity and press modify :) for the next time perhaps:)

So people for the second batch have to pay $8 more in total when they buy both. Something about that doesn't feel right.

Hmmm, why is the price increasing for the 2nd batch? Why not sell all of them in one go at the same price? Just seems a bit iffy to me.

Best check with the bank manager to make sure the $8 isn't going to put you in the red!! :p

This change of price shouldn't be viewed as penalising the masses, but instead rewarding the early converters. It's a strategy that has been used by retailers for decades and is a nice way for a retailer to be able to reward their customers.

Not everyone can benefit from it unfortunately, but in the grand scheme of this collecting hobby it is a small token gesture from kimchi which I would say is very welcome.

If too many people complained about it then they would probably just start at the higher price in future. I'd prefer fellow ninjas could benefit from a discount if you ask me though ;) Especially if they've stayed up into the early hours to secure their copy

Yes only eight copies per person

It should've been one or two of the quarter slip and three of the lenticular maximum. Here was me thinking I would get up this morning and nab one of the lenticulars which would surely still be around. :(

I didnt bother ordering a full lenti but the 1/4's had a limit of 2 not 3!

I agree. It the same as when retailers in US drop prices on new releases. It may only be $8 but every little counts especially if a few people ordered 2 or more. For example, if someone ordered 5 thats a huge saving of $40.

I'm happy that I managed to get a copy of the lenticular version. The quarter slip version will always be more valueable but I personally liked the lenticular more.

Hopefully everyone who missed out will be able to get at least one copy when they go live again. Although if they are going live at a better time for Europe then I can see them selling out just as fast.

I know I'm not a mod but this thread isn't really here for discussing Kimchi's preorder strategy.. It's for discussing the steel.

Do we not have a specific retailer thread?

You rang sir? :D

Chandler is right folks - there is a retailer thread for Kimchidvd where discussions on all things related to this retailer should be posted.

Please keep all posts focused on this SteelBook release. Thank you.

I'm confused where we're getting this $8 figure from. It looks like it's only $3 more per copy, and $6 if you order both. So, 5 copies would be only $15.

Cant believe how fast 500 lenticular versions and 250 quarter slip editions sold out... thats a third of the lanti version, and half of the quarter versions sold already EEK!
Selling much faster than T2...

Glad i got my order in for the lenticular :oohyeah:

No, because like it's been mentioned, I see it as rewarding those that pre-order early. I'd rather have a few at the cheaper price than all of them at the higher price.

You all miss my point. It's the fact that Europeans had to be awake at 1/2/3 am to get this lower price for Le Grand Blue. Now for the next batch, they do adjust the time, but the price is increased. That doesn't feel right to me.

Your arguments would make sense for regular items (as mentioned in the "US retailers"-example), not for highly wanted, low printed collector items of which KimchiDVD already knows on forehand that they will be sold out.
