Word of caution from an UK HDN Member about HMV (thanks VRob98)

HMV now in administration said:
People should just be aware of 2 things:

1) If you receive a damaged or faulty copy from now on, you will not receive a replacement or refund

2) If they charge your card and are then unable to fulfil your order, you will not be refunded.

The way a company operates whilst under administration is quite different to how it operates normally, and certain consumer rights are suspended. If anything goes wrong you would have to apply to the administrator or claim against your credit card issuer.

I'd encourage everyone who has orders in with HMV to consider the above, as I'd hate to see anyone here lose their money in all of this.

Available to pre-order right now.
Release date: January 28, 2013
Purchase Link: Amazon.co.uk
Note: No inside art (see post #443)

Excellent news!

the annoying thing for me, personally, is that i received an email at 10 am yesterday morning from hmv promoting their offers and exclusives!!!!! hours later, the site goes down, before i get a chance to cancel my preorder for this one!!!!!:angry::angry::angry:
fingers crossed..........................

HMV Pre-Orders

I have pre-orders with them for Steelbooks such as Taken 2, Skyfall, Resident Evil. How can I cancel if the Web site has been terminated?

Can you share please?

Thanks

EEK!

Well if this is the way it's going to go for steelbooks and Amazon are going to start overcharging then you can certainly consider me out of the game. £18 I was prepared to pay, but not £21! I'll just wait for the amaray version to go down to £8 and I'll pick that up

yep then when you add in costs for 1st class delivery its over £22 so it is overpriced but so is the normal edition at £17 that's ridiculous as it is and they can't sell the steel any cheaper, they should make the normal edition for around £15 and the steel for around £17 i think that would be fair.

HMV would have put the price up to £22 (the original pre-order price) a week after release anyway, Amazon have just gone straight in at that price point, I imagine based on distributors recommended retailer price?

and i can see this dropping in price once it's been shipped out and then be given a credit with them again. I seem to have quite abit of credit back from them in the last couple of months.

Noticed a poster in London Liverpool Street Station.EEK!

Out on 28.01.2013 - Looper HMV Exclusive Steelbook.

I wonder how much money they wasted on those sort of posters recently. Same goes for all the different TV commercials they had over Christmas. Stupid move if you ask me... people who are interested in the Looper steelbook and/or steelbooks in general will no doubt already know about them, and those that don't know about them probably don't even care.

Probably true, I know a few movie fans who have have a decent amount of blu-rays and they didn't even know they had steelbooks in their collection when I pointed them out.

They don't really care about the packaging.

And I envy them.

You'll be surprised at how many of us there are out there ;)

I've come across one or two people like that myself... I have a cousin who is mad on gaming and has a few steelbooks in his collection, but all he cares about is the game that's inside. I also have a friend who has a few movie steelbooks, which he says he only got because "they were cheaper". Obviously they're now all dented and whatnot lol.

These are the sort of people who don't understand why I collect steelbooks, but that's a story for another thread. :p

I read those lines like Alfred's speech at "The Dark Knight", where he told Batman about the diamonds in the jungle and that some people just want the world to burn, because they don't care about money;)

I hope you can follow me;)
