Update 3/28/2011 appears on site again. It says "We'll send it when available", but they may ship sooner rather than later, or not at all. YMMV. Note this is an empty Sticker Steelbook, that was originally available for those that pre-ordered the Theatrical BD Set. However, at that point you could still order it at $7.50 separately, and then the price went up to $15.

So I went to BB today to look for a new phone since mine broke and I saw an advertisement on an endcap aisle way talking about the LOTR Trilogy "six disc steelbook casing"

Sorry I couldnt get a snap with my camera as like I said I was looking for a phone at the time.

This may be old news, but I didnt see it posted.

Yeah the BB I go to didn't even have them, I am checking back next week. Could you snap some photos?

Here are some shots, not the greatest, my only camera is in my iPhone. Also, for those wondering, the case is Blu-ray size, not DVD size (e.g., Hurt Locker Steelbook).

So is this LOTR steelbook case a sticker book and if so what is a sticker book

I was gonna pre order this from BB.com since i live in canada i would just do a in store pickup.

But if this copy isn't any good maybe i will se what the canadian release is like

I really hope someone does the extended editions

I believe they are releasing this as a Jumbo Steelbook. Just like the Pixar movie "Up" and "Monster's Inc." I don't like these as much as the single ones, for they feel very flimsy, but it's steelbook non-the-less. They should release these seprately like Pirates of the Carribbean, but have the digital copy rest inside instead of in a paper sleeve. The last Pirates one did that, but did not do this for the first two of the Trilogy.

Are these things really selling that well on the secondary market? I didn't think anyone would want these.
Of course, Best Buy got them first to release LotR Trio on Blu-ray sized. So thats why its a month early. The highest price sold were $35 & $50 on eBay.

So far I have 12 and didn't know the other 3 shipped today, so now I have 15 while xage has 17. My store still have 3 left, maybe I'll bite to surpass xage's spotlight. :p

Went to BB today and found one. Will not get the movies since they are the theatrical release and I want the extended 1000 hours version of the movies...

from BB site: Not in stock: Order now and we'll deliver when available

South Texas b&m all UNAVAILABLE

Yeah, they have the same status for the Disney steelbooks. I bet if you order one, you'll get a ship notification in a couple of days.

The best thing about this edition is the $50 GC to sideshowtoys. Other than that is pretty cheap feeling.

Does a ship notification mean they will ship soon? Do they have more backordered? Or is it just in availability limbo? I ask because I'd want to order some Disney steels as well.
