Dragging this thread up from the depths, I know lol honest opinions on the lenti, from anyone who has/owns it? Stary night slip is obviously my preference, but when needs must.

happy days. prompted by @samdavies and @eLviS1987, i dug out my shots and video of the lenti from way back in 2018 that i never got around to posting. click here for the photos only in the album, or below for the unboxing. i couldn't get the upload to accept my lenti video, so to see that, it's here in the post, below/scroll down.

this is one of those things that Kimchi used to do and Plain Archive still do well, great editions of films not covered by anyone else . as a film, it's perfectly fine, but the technique and appearance are beautiful, and this set does a really good job of conveying the look and feel of the film.
i like the imagery used for the front and back of the slip, and little things like there still being artwork on the inside from the printing and production process :
but the lenti is superb, IMHO. it's old HDZeta style, in that it's an up/down lenti, rather than a left/right one. it's actually a bit more subtle and impressive than i could get this video to make out, but you get the idea pretty well. with the brushstrokes changing as the image turns, you get a real sense of the amount of work that went into this . compare it to the gif below from the actual film - they did pretty well, i think, with around 4 clear changes:
the steelbook's been covered above, but for those who have not scrolled back to @moon's unboxing or @Flloydo's excellent shots, here are a few of mine:
@steelmybeatingheart great pics and review. Yes, I ended up picking up the lenti in the end. I would've preferred the stary night slip, but I actually think the lenti suits the film more. It's probably the most unique lenticular transition I've ever seen.

yeah, with the film itself being painted animation, you get a beautiful lenti transition. possibly also easier to make it work better because it's not a photo-realist image.
