Fair points mate. I apparently need to take the time to have a proper catch-up in this thread, because I'm not seeing the "gold flakes" you're referring to, so I've obviously missed something lol.

Honestly, I never even took any notice of the way they described the finish (clearly lol)... always just assumed it'd be embossed like the others. But, yeah... wouldn't hurt for them to show the border in the mock-ups.

Still stand by my comments on the colours though - as with any steelbook, they vary on the lighting and will never be matched exactly in a render vs the physical product.
Don't bother looking up the gold flakes, I just made that up as an example of something they didn't say... you were making the point that just because they didn't say it was not embossed we should have been open to the possibility. But they did say debossed, and even if they hadn't, judging by the mockups, it was reasonable to think it wasn't going to be embossed (at least the frame), because there's no good reason not to add that to the mockup.

Ah, I'd obviously missed that. Did the info come directly from Toc or Steelbook? Because if the latter, then we all know how inconsistent their descriptions have been over the years.

Personally think embossing on the steering wheel works much better than debossing would anyway... wouldn't make sense for it to be sunken into the background IMO.

P.S. Technically all steels with the border are debossed FYI, but that's a whole other argument lol.

from steelbook and yeah I agree they have been wrong In the past but in honesty how many times? Barely a handful. Still wrong and misleading info regardless.

Yeah that is a whole other arguement but the second it has a border it’s considered embossing. True embossing would be the back of the roger rabbit steel where the space around the embossed image is debossed but I’m not getting into that pedantic debate.

Embossing does make a literal sense of the wheel however all that negative space around it with the border makes it look off now. Technically debossing don’t make sense on a lot of debossed steels hence why It’s mostly used on titles because it’s a Feature I suppose.

and I fully agree, the mock up/ 3d render/ steel visual is always going to look different in hand. That’s a given. But most are very close. Very close. And I share the same amount of disappointment when it is very different unless imo the final product looks even better than the mock. Unfortunately that’s not the case here. The glow on the metallic orange on the mock ups p!ss all over this muted pale orange on the final product

I'm collecting these so far as they are pretty decent value for 4K SteelBook releases and I do like themed packages. But coming from the makers of SteelBooks you have to wonder if they could do a bit more - these should really be the pinnacle of what is possible given the manufacturing scale these guys can operate at. The enamel badges are great quality but that Fury Road SteelBook is crying out for a mono image of the caravan of vehicles and war boys coming out of the dust with the Doof Warrior up front.

I forgot that these are from the guys who make steels! Makes the debossing comment under finishes on the site even worse now

The shot really show how badly aligned the spine is. Nobody intends to offset logos like that. I'm hoping that is early production rather than how retail copies will be.
The production issue I hate the most with steelbooks. It's always a huge disappointment when a steel with such a poorly centered spine print arrives. I'm afraid this won't be the only ToC MM copy with this flaw.

Has anyone had a despatch notice from HMV yet?, my order is showing as 'payment captured' (i paid with paypal), also concerning is the item page no longer exists and when clickiing view order in my account, an error message page appears. Bit annoyed at HMV as they have been very reliable recently.

Afaik Scanavo does not do embossing without the frame because it would stick out otherwise.

They do actually. I just wonder the real reason why they HARDLY do. As Three Amigos UK zavvi steel has it. ( i own it) Gang Related zavvi steel has it. (i own it) and I saw the DE johnny depp film think it was called transcendence or something had it too.
