McDonalds to replace cashiers with computers!

That's crazy. I know a lot of good people that have gotten their start at McDonalds. If they shift the cashiers back to the kitchen or other jobs, I'm fine with it.

Burger King by my work tried something like that. They added automated atm type ordering machines. What they dont realize ppl are too damn stupid to use em! Ever been stuck for 10 minutes behind a person trying to use an atm just to get money out? Ya multiply that by ten lol BK ended up getting rid of those machines lol

Wreck-definitely doing it here, too. Years ago, when I was studying for MBA-we did this as a case study. First they started with the recorded greeting and had plans to replace staff with computers. They piloting it in some states already... we're becoming more and more a la "Demolition Man" all the time...

LOVE IT! Well, if Sandra Bullock asks me to put that sex headset on my head, every time I order a Strawberry Milkshake, I am down!

(kidding)

Well...not really....

OT...

I am fascinated by and saddened by how "automated" we've become...sometimes I just laugh at how people in big cities are obsessed with their Blackberries-so much so, they walk into street signs...LOL

simple solution: electronic wheelchairs that steer away from stuff for all people. then you don't even have to distract yourself with watching where you are going while you play angry birds :hilarious:

They already do this at the Jack-n-the-box here in San Diego. There is still 1 human window though. So it's not completely computer.

I RARELY see anyone use the computer. IDK how long it will take people to get used to it. They're certainly going to lose customers as not everyone is going to be comfortable with it, others wont understand how to use it (have you seen people try to operate the self check-out at any store?), and last, but CERTAINLY not leas:

"The new terminals will also phase out cash as an accepted payment method, as the machines will only take credit and debit cards."

Good luck with that! In this economy less people are using credit cards and are sticking to cash. I can't see this being an American thing for a long while, if ever.

yeah not accepting cash is stupid. I mean even the wal-mart self check outs accept cash ... so it shouldnt be that hard. Thing is, they just dont want to have an extra person for keeping the machines filled with cash/change lol.

Sounds like they want to eliminate the amount of cash on hand at them, there by eliminating the amount of robberies. If one day no cash is accepted then if someone runs in to rob em' all he can get is some burgers and fries. ;p
