I am having trouble getting the spine off without bending and destroying it, I followed the instruction but I can't really get it to work. Does anyone have any recommendations.

I have a space heater, so what I do is place my steel (without the disc inside) in front of it (spine facing) for a minute or two until it gets hot. I then get a razor blade and it slides right through the glue with ease.

Remember, the biggest trick is getting the glue hot enough to be flexible so that you're not forcing the spine panel off with whatever your sliding through it.

+1 If your use the 'boiling' method and the glues still not flexible enough to come off easily just put it back in for another couple of minutes to soften it more, better waste a couple of minutes than to trash the spine
