Not to go against Wreck, but for a first timer like yourself I would absolutely stay away from using credit cards and other items of equivocal thickness and rigidness. There's a better chance to bend the steelbook's panel if you try and remove it with something like that, so look for some much thinner and much more flimsier. Try using photo paper, a laminated card like a student id card or a Blockbuster rental card, or something that is bendable. Once you get practice then you can move in to using harder stuff, but by that point you'll find that a using thin piece of plastic (like a toothbrush package) is always the better way to go.

Zesty your Superman artwork looks great, top quality. I wish I had the guts to do this but I might finally try since the BBY steels were cheap anyway. I'll be rereading all the tutorials on the site this weekend. I never liked the inside work of the Batman Begins worldwide release anyway so hopefully if everything works out well I'll be very happy.

Thanks, just have a go and take your time with the first one it is actually alot easier than you think ;)

I have only a few questions after reading up. I'm assuming you're using high quality glossy for the artwork, but are you using a special program for printing? I made my artwork using the double-sized template posted a while ago but I don't know how to print it to the correct size of the blu-ray case.

Yeah I use glossy paper and there should be a setting somewhere in your printer properties to set the scale of the print, for double sized scale to 50% and print for standard 100% and thats it :D

I just use Windows Photo Viewer to bring up your new template design then go to print. Once you do that bring up your printing options and make sure that printing to borders is not turned on and that it also does not print to fit-to-screen. Choose your paper type and your orientation should be landscape and make sure to choose the level of ink used whether it be photo or photo best or whatever it's called.

Hey there modders,

I have a real simple question about the "boiling method" of removing spines and reattaching them
(i tried the credit card method in the OP and the results weren't pretty :().

Specifically, what type of glue is best for reattaching the metal labels?
(i assume that after boiling all traces of glue are completely gone).

Any type of super-strength "bonding" style glue is a no-no, as should you decide to revert, there's no way you'd be able to get it off again right?

So what glue should i use?
-Thanks :D

I use double sided tape to reattach the spines. Also you'll find it much easier to use a hair dryer to soften the glue to remove the spines. :)
