I got a couple of emails last night after I inquired what was next for ES Steelbook-wise. The responses had picture clues on them which is pretty cool

The first one hinted at Forbidden Planet (I set up a thread here) and the other one looks to be Natural Born Killers as guessed by Carlos

Hopefully a mod can get confirmation from them some time soon

Too expensive IMO. I don't like the current trend in pricing and I'll be voting with my feet, i.e. not buying this at £15 or many other catalogue releases when the bluray < £5.

With that being said, if it were my business I would adopt a similar pricing strategy. See how many you can sell at £XX if it doesn't sell out drop to £YY. I appreciate there is more to releasing an exclusive steelbook than the price of the amray, but from a business perspective it should be an obvious indication of demand.

I am actually happy to pay a premium price, but expect a premium release (extras / 3d / booklets etc) and so far the UK seem to be really lacking on that front.

Genuinely, how much extra does a steelbook cost over the price of all these surplus discs that studios struggle to give away?

I find it slightly inconsiderate of Entetainment Store releasing this SteelBook on the 7th of October 2013 - a date that is already overcrowded with nine other SteelBook releases, and the busiest release date between now and the end of the year!

Entertainment Store themselves said (in the recent HDN interview) that there was no dying need to force Natural Born Killers and Forbidden Planet out by a specific date, as both are catalogue titles. So why did they then go and choose the most crowded release date? If ES had any common sense, they would postpone the releases until either later in the year, or January 2014!

I sometimes wonder whether these retailers are oblivious to what other SteelBooks are being released

:wtf:

I think there is no need to buy it on this date (even pre-order it).
As you said it's a cataloge title...
4K printrun and only available for Uk people (besides group buy)
And probably NO extended cut.....

I'm pretty sure this will be availabe for quite some time or ebay will be flooded->both options mean we don't have to pay more than retail price:hilarious:

So I don't care about the release date and will wait for in hand pics after release and then I will chose how much and how soon I want this;)

I agree most part with you but at the same time ES are a business and trying to make money - whether its steelbooks or amarays. As its a catalogue title i doubt this will sell out by release date + no one is pressured into buying it ON release day ;)

Pick and choose what you REALLY want in october, otherwise your bank account will look like a massacre :D

I think this steelbook will be available after its release date and i will wait to see photos first and decide later if i really want this.

It's a UK release so the disc will be the EXACT same as the previous amaray version, just in a steelbook. Unless they have pressed a new disc with the extended cut (which I doubt).

There is still time to sign up to the Group Buy (GB) :)

For those taking part in the GB, Invoices will be sent out next weekend (28th) for this title.

Thanks!

they have taken the cash today

Lets hope they ship earlier than they did with the Star Trek releases.

The big box arrived on the Tuesday but the single release never showed up. Had to order a replacement which arrived the week on Friday after the Monday release date. Not good.

Changed my mind, think I'll stick an order in. Can't let a glossy Steelbook slip by - don't get enough of them these days. Embossing sounds perfect, can't wait.
