I got my "Dances with Wolves" Steel today and had no problem peeling off the ratings sticker, but I know sometimes there are issues. So I thought I'd add a thread so everyone can post what they use to remove pricing, rating and whatever other stickers from their Steebooks (that is, if you unwrap them, of course).

Enjoy, and thanks for taking the time to post your own tips.

Just use Goo Gone. It takes the glue from stickers and labels and wipes right off. It will even soak through the sticker and remove the glue and it leaves your SteelBook finish untarnished. I've even used it on the cardboard slipcovers that come with regular amarays and it works like a charm.

The BEST stuff on earth!!!! :scat:

Never, ever, EVER use goo gone on a matte steelbook. EEK!

I did that to my Hancock steelie years ago and I ended up with a SHINY spot where my sticker glue used to be.

I recommend butter. Straight from nature's teet to my steelbook collection. :naughty: EEK! :scat:

That's not good but interesting. I'll make sure not to use it anymore then. Butter? EEK! I never thought of using butter. I'll try that next time I have a sticker or label to remove. Just the regular stick butter or any special kind that is better than the other?

Any butter will do. This is my favorite, just because of the name and the look on my wife's face when I grabbed it out of the fridge ("NO! Not the GOOD BUTTER! What are you.........oh.")

:hilarious:

Let it sit on the residue area anywhere from 15 min to 30 min.

This is the best one! I used it everywhere...including in my vinyl, Cds too!

I'm not so sure now about Goo Gone. I mean Apsmith is an expert when it comes to steels so if he says that it messed up his matte finished SteelBook then I believe him. Personally, I'm not going to use it anymore and use butter like he said. Thanks Andy

Glad I didnt order that goo gone.

But seriously who puts a gluey sticker on Star Wars the Clone wars steelbook!

I actually used a lot of Goo Gone on my SW Clone Wars NL to get rid of that nasty sticker a few weeks ago....and I checked it last night and it was okey...I think it was just for the Matte finish...

Run it under a hot tap and don't worry the steel can take heat no problem

Security Sticker

Bonjour,

I just opened my 'Inglourious Basterds' steelbook and there is a Black security sticker on the inside. Is there any way to completely remove this or should I just leave it?.

I remove those all the time, shouldn't be a problem.

Andy, have you considered putting some more goo gone back on the damaged area and rub it in the one direction I would try top to bottom or has the goo gone removed some of the colour also.

Goo gone like any of these products have chemicals that soften some finishes. Satin finish steels are by nature softer and easier marked than normal steels. You could be seeing a surface change caused by rubbing in a circular motion the first time round. I would not be surprised if you saw an improvement re doing it in the same direction.

I use the logo method as a start and anything left from that I use

Nothing touches this when it comes to result I just spray then gently wipe with a micro fibre cloth.
Its primary function is a pre paint surface no contact cleaner
I cannot send you some 7063 as its pressurised You are more than welcome to send Hancock over I will give it a try, It certainly wouldnt be any worse.
