I understand where everyone is coming, and I understand the effort in finding Iron Man, but I also see it also as that many don't have the resources and money to afford $500+ for a steelbook, me included. I see this as a hobby, and find enjoyment of everyone being able to get what they like, sometimes it seems sort of like a competition, where whoever owns Iron Man is a truuuue collector, but to me it's about fun, talking about how cool it is etc.

I don't mind if they re-release it....

It happened with I Am Legend and we survived

There is a fine line here. While studios are concerned about pumping out releases to boost revenue, they need to be concerned with their market. Putting out a re-release of Iron Man could spurn collectors and impact future steelbook sales if buyers leave the market.

I would hate to see an identical re-release of the FS version for this reason, even though it would be to my benefit as I don't have the FS version. Even if it was an identical re-lease with a minor variation, I would still want the original, albeit at a more normal price than what it is going for now

I am a COLLECTOR of SteelBooks and Viva Metal Cases. Their value doesn't interest me, because I won't be selling any of them. If you buy them to resell and make a profit, then you are not Collectors, but dealers.

Like I've stated earlier, I couldn't care less about the monetary value of the items. If I was all about the money, I would have made thousands by now, but no, I stick to my guns and offer any help I can to my fellow collectors and I'm against the reselling for x times the original price. That's also why I put a limit of copies for my GB's, I won't support any behaviour to take advantage of the limited access to Future Shop releases for example.

It should be like that all the time, every buyer is limited to ONE mint sealed copy and thats it. Unfortunately a majority of collectors buy dozens and sell them on ebay for silly prices and all those who didn't get a copy will have to fork out. It is not illegal but it is not morally right from a collectors point of view.

Buying multiple copies of a specific item and selling them on ebay is considered a business activity and therefore the seller has to pay VAT on the selling price. As I do not think that many people do this, there are many countries on this planet (especially the EU) where this practice is officially illegal.

So it's okay to pre-oder 999/1000 copies if I had the money and then sell them for a rediculous amount? I will pay the vat on top of that no problem, its not illegal, it's a business, like I said it is not morally right to cut short of supply and increase the price of a steel for business gain. That's why most companies should limit the order, one to an address.

In a juristic and economical way, yes, it probably is okay, if you're paying the VAT. Ethically it is pretty lame and should be prevented

Not sure if you misunderstood my previous posting, as I was in complete agreement with you posting and added the fact that this behaviour could be illegal.

I think it was the way you posted your post Not sure what you didn't agree on? The illegal bit or the morally bit? I think I understand what you mean. No probs. My question was focusing on that it was not morally right to bulk buy limited goods to sell for personal gain to collectors who cannot find a copy because they all been sold out. No offence to anyone reading this that does do this, like halpme said, it's business.

This will never happen, while some may leave the market, you will gain twice and 3 times as much, with a re-release of this nature.

An example, I am a OCD completist and the reason I don't own any of the Marvel steels is because I dont own Iron Man. I will tell you now the moment I own Iron Man, I will go after the rest or visa versa. It may sound crazy, but I know many are like me

Also I see there is a lot of noise about this new expected Iron Man steelbook edition, but honestly I personally never liked this Futureshop Iron Man steelbook, because of the blue bar on top. I have Iron Man in dvd steelbook case and for me this is the best option for now. I do not have any steelbook with this blue bar in my collection, and I never going to buy such like this, with no matter of the price. For me the most beautiful steelbooks are these with a clean artworks on the front and back, and have hope that this Australian editions will just look like that.
So, if this wave will have clean artworks I will be interested in buying Iron Man, Saving Private Ryan and Forrest Gump

Well I will buy them no matter what the art is because I am a collector.I open all my steelbooks to enjoy and couldn't care less about the cost or value, they are there for my enjoyment. I do own IM already and hope the re release is different so I can add that to all the other's, but will buy it regardless.

I will also point out to the masses that keep going on about the studios not caring about collectors that have forked out big bucks for the rare ones, You are right they don't they are in the business of making money.

Also none of the studios ever received big bucks for them, they all sold through retailers so why would they care if if some after market reseller made a huge profit.

Lets all chill and wait till the art is released.
