If they do end up being Viva Cases, let'sjust hope they're up there in quality with Senna and Tron. Those two titles along with the BluFans exclusives have helped with the "acceptance" of the viva cases. Still to this day I prefer them over steelbook

lol I'm sure if you had more steelbooks in your backyard then you'd have a tougher decision to make ;)

Alas, that is true. Most of Australia's steelbook releases have been few and far between, and rather underwhelming.

That's brilliant news, I will def be buying some of these on either formats (Metal Slips or Viva), Iron Man & TF would look awesome :scat:

Awful lot of Iron Man steels flooding onto eBay recently. I wonder if this new release has spooked people into offloading their Future Shop copies while they're still commanding top dollar?

Like I said before it is very unlikely they will release identical steelbook releases. I quite fancy them releasing metal slip cases for the new ones.:scat:

Whilst I'm disappointed they're not steelbooks, the 2 Vivas I've got are very nice so I'm still looking forward to the the first 4 releases.

I'll be happy with Viva's, I only own one, Senna, and it's fricking awesome!

Regarding 'other elements' of the disucssion on this thread, I do understand that for some people who collect the monetary value is irrelevant, but for others (I consider myself a collector) if I know a steel I own has a high monetary value (not many of mine do!) then that actually makes it more highly prized by me and not just others....

I am a COLLECTOR of SteelBooks and Viva Metal Cases. Their value doesn't interest me, because I won't be selling any of them. If you buy them to resell and make a profit, then you are not Collectors, but dealers.

This is an interesting point, I do buy and re-sell in some instances to make a profit thus making me a dealer, but I then use any small profit I make to obtain further SteelBooks for me, because I'm a collector!

And finally, do people think their Blu-ray SteelBooks will have a value in say 20 years? I sincerely hope they do, if they don't it may impinge on how much I spend now. And that's not because I wish to make money by selling them, but because I like owning valuable things...

I'm not a fan of Viva/Slipcase, but I've got to admit that I'll take IM and both TF since I'm a sold-out addict to those franchises :D

Actually, it's kind of a relief that those aren't steelbook after all... kinda happy to see that IM and TF2 Future Shop's steels will still rises up in value :scat:

I doubt within 5 years they would of held the value, more than likely there will be a superior format out (4k?) and people will be collecting them over Blu-Ray steelbooks. I remember reading on here someone had a DVD steelbook that used to sell for over $100 back in it's heyday, he listed it on eBay & couldn't even sell it for 99p.

So these won't be Steelbooks? Well no matter, Steelbook or Metal case, not like they are very different in my opinion.

I hope Iron Man, Forrest Gumb and Saving Private Ryan has Finnish subtitles. At least their amaray versions have them, so I keep my hopes up. :)

Regardless if they will retain value or not, if you are a true collector, you would not be concerned about the profits or values they would hold. If you are a dealer you are not a true collector and only in this for the money. I am a collector and will retain all my steelz that are importaint to me even if they lost value in the future. If anyone here is worried about the next technology to take over bluray my advice simply is don't collect steelz and just keep on waiting for next format to come out and cash out while you can. In my opinion that would make you a dealer. Who knows what is the next steel case to come? G3, G5? Let's just enjoy what we have that comes to us in our present day :)

I'm not complaining, just answering his question with my opinion. I'm not worried about them losing value, to me they are priceless, I don't even like trading that much as I miss the steelbooks I trade away, as I only ever buy one of each steelbook.

part of my collecting is them being valuable ... I gives it luster and prestige ... and I collected cards when I was a kid and it was always fun to have the valuable insert cards etc. Each person has their own way of collecting. I'm also a lot like Michel and Im sure others are too ... this isnt a cheap hobby, and if you are in it like the most of us ...ie. addicted ... then if you can play smart and sell some things you can then turn around and purchase more.

I dont pay any common bills with what I sell ... I purchase more steelbooks and collectibles. A readjustment of funds. :)

I just sold a bunch of stuff this week because June 5th is coming soon. LOL. You hear me Surfury? I'm ready! Bring on that invoice!:hilarious:

This has re-ignited the passion of collectors old and new-having been around a while, that, to me, is the most refreshing aspect of all of this....
