haha lol

never heard about this movie !!!!!!!! where this one comes from haha so much laugh when I got this in my mails from Zavvi ...

ninjas ? we have to wait for number 6 now !!! see you next year !!!

what a disapointment lol :(

This is confusing now. If this collection isnt limited to Classics, why wasnt A Nightmare Before Christmas included? We need some consistency. Only thing we can count on is the price being £22.99

Oh, that's a really good point. If this can sit alongside the "Classics", Nightmare certainly ought to.

That film looks awful! I wasn't expecting that film in the Disney collection. Shame. Thought they would continue with the old classics (apart from wreck it ralph)

nice move zavvi but no thanks:hilarious:

Another £23 saved...;)

This is a massive disappointment :(

I was only interested in the "classics" but how can this be a classic. A straight to video release that hit the cinemas.
I WAS going to get all the Disney releases but not now.

Come on Zavvi and Disney what are you playing at. I

I am not paying that price for this one

pretty much second all the above
Planes is a Disney titles I'd likely pick up/check out via the DMR redemption schemw, or could have been tempted to get the steel at Play.com's £10.99 type price tag, but over £20 has to be the biggest joke price on all their steels yet!! :hilarious:

There's loads of classic Disney releases I'd love to see get released in this range but I do feel that some peeps have gotten carriedvaway with the 'classics' angle as this is just the Disney Collection so it's not restricted in name to either the Classics series or even animation. Whether peeps have chip on their shoulder or not about Planes origins or Disneytoons usual release methods they are a Disney animation studio who released a theatrical feature and will do so with two more entries in this profitable series. I fully expect that Nightmare didn't get included because despite how much Disney has taken to the film in recent years it was from their Beuna Vista arm that they don't class within the central Disney umbrella.

Even if they were sticking with Disney Animation classics, the next one being made by them is based on a Marvel comic so it's not a sacred range.

What I will say though is that I don't like how £23 is now the standard price regardless of title. Given how poor Ranger has done it's asking a lot for peeps to pay that much and despite Planes being a perfectly decent film it's again a bit steep when they did Nemo for £17.

I bet this is a worldwide release just like Monsters University. Zavvi prob just decided to include it in the collection.

I thought Buena Vista was the distributor for all Disney releases, and have been for decades. At least it used to be. Did you mean Touchstone?

Was really looking forward to the Disney collection and getting all the steels. However no way am I paying £23 for what meant to be a straight to dvd release before Disney decided to give it a cinema run.

I don't like the £23 price that all have been given, and planes is certainly not worth £23, steelbook or not, so it's definitely a no for me.

Folks, lets not spiral the thread into the ground with all of these unrelated comments. Please continue to address retailer-specific feedback to Zavvi themselves, especially if it pertains to your order. Please refrain from personal attacks and accusations at HDN. Thanks.

The colors are somewhat nice, but that's it, the general artwork is far from great

If they lower the price to about half of the current absurd £23, I might get it. Otherwise is an easy pass.

Okay, they're pushing my buttons with this release. I originally pre-ordered it when I first saw this thread, alongside the Lone Ranger. But I've been thinking about it.

28 euros for a direct-to-DVD subpar spin-off that magically got a theatrical release? I actually like Cars (and Cars 2 was quite fun), but this Planes thing seems really not worth it, it's far from a premium film, it's never been conceived to be more than a cheap cash-grabbing attempt to cash in on the Cars universe, and yet the steelbook is the same price as the biggest ones.

I've never understood why so many people here cancel everything all the time on zavvi. Hell, I still have Monsters University (€29.99), Despicable Me (€27.59) and The Lone Ranger (€28.05) on pre-order (though I might cancel Monsters University and Lone Ranger and pick up the FNAC ones instead).

But this one... I can't go through with this and get this steelbook when I see how many I have on pre-order for the last three months of the year. I couldn't live with myself :D.

Good thing that Disney/Zavvi chose not to number the collection (with a #5 on the spine of this steelbook for instance). This way, it makes it even easier to give this one a pass :).

At least there's no way the Pixar collection will be tainted with turds like that, the exclusives released on February 10 have to be regular Pixar feature films (unless they put all the Pixar shorts on one of the steelbooks... but that I actually wouldn't mind).

I'm happy with the whole package here, the film the art, the colours etc. can't understand all the negativity here. I'm sure the much bigger releases will follow in time anyway.

Point is the big releases should of been done now, if they wanted to release something like Planes then it should of been one of the last ones in the collection to release. I mean how long have we been waiting for number 5 to be revealed and now that we have it, it's only Planes. Hercules, Tarzen, Mulan etc not a film which is basically a straight to DVD release which got lucky and ended up on the big screen.

I've contacted Zavvi about this, I know it won't do much but it's better then being p***** off on here. Oh and in my comment I blamed Disney, not them, I just asked them if they wouldn't mind getting in contact to Disney or something to see why they chose this since it shouldn't be part of the classic collection

And which classic collection are you referring to ?

There's nothing on these releases that mentions any "Disney Collection" or any numbering so this is an easy pass for me and will wait for a better Disney to come along. If the spines were numbered then I would be annoyed and feel committed to buy but thankfully they aren't so don't need to worry about this release!
