The future of PlayStation is all about great games and entertainment, and at PlayStation Meeting 2013, we brought some of the brightest and most creative minds from the development community on stage to unveil the games that will define PS4. A partial initial lineup for PlayStation 4 includes first-party games from Guerilla Games (Killzone: Shadow Fall), Sucker Punch (inFamous Second Son), Evolution Studios (Driveclub), and Japan Studio (Knack), as well as titles from our partners such as Activision/Bungie (Destiny), Blizzard Entertainment (Diablo III), Capcom (Deep Down), and Ubisoft (Watch_Dogs). PlayStation also reinforced its commitment to self-publishing and the independent development community by having Jonathan Blow onstage who gave a sneak peek of his upcoming title The Witness. Finally, the incredible minds at Media Molecule and Quantic Dream gave glimpses of their conceptualization process and the future of gameplay with some remarkable footage. We only scratched the surface at the event, and will have many more exciting titles to come.

Our next generation console will change the way you interact with friends while you play. PlayStation 4 lets you instantly share images and videos of your favorite gameplay moments on Facebook with a single press on the DUALSHOCK 4 controller’s “share” button. You can also broadcast while you play in real-time through Ustream, allowing friends to comment or jump into your game in new ways.

With PlayStation 4 we also want you to access your games quicker than ever before. PS4’s “suspend mode” eliminates the load time on your saved game and allows you to immediately return to where you left off by pressing the power button. PlayStation 4’s background downloading and updating capability also allows you to immediately play digital titles as they download, or update the system when the hardware is powered off.

DUALSHOCK 4 adopts the familiar form factor of the DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller with some key enhancements:
  • - Motion control is enabled by a new highly sensitive six-axis sensor
  • - Dual analog sticks fine-tuned for better precision plus improved surface materials and shape for more delicate manipulation
  • - L2/R2 buttons on the top of the controller employ a curved design for easier, smoother interaction
  • - A new “Options” button combines the functions of the DUALSHOCK 3’s “Select” and “Start” buttons for operating in-game menus

You can see more images of the new DUALSHOCK 4 controller here.

Hoping for something better then what Microsoft showed us. If Sony gives us the used games back and no required internet to play campaign games or use the actual console then Ill be getting the PS4 for sure.

Amazon UK currently have it up at £600 and Zavvi have theirs up at £500... obviously these prices aren't final, but it wouldn't surprise me if the official price lands somewhere between those prices... I have a feeling Amazon are closer though. :ohno:

Zavvi have it up for £399.99 but it's not showing the "Pre-order Price Promise" like it does for the Xbox One.

I'm hoping for a £350 SKU

Ah, I guess it dropped by £100 since I last checked then (or maybe I just had my numbers wrong all along). I really can't see it being that cheap though, but I'd love to be wrong for a second time. :p

I'm not going to E3 this year ... sucks as I think I would enjoy it much more than last year. Next year will be my big year in regards to cons etc. Tho I might hit up NYCC later this year.

I might skip E3 next year as well as I'l be going to a diff con in June and then SDCC

So stoked for this. I'll most likely be getting this the day it releases, here in the US. Now i'm even more glad i purchased a Panasonic 65ST60 a few weeks ago. By the time the PS4 hits, it'll be broken in nicely, and ready to go.

Both are supposed to cost less than the 360 and PS3 cost during their launch, according to Gamestop. I'm guessing two models for each; a $400 model and a $500 model.
i hope you're right. I would be really happy with thise numbers... But I doubt it....

+1... if a bare bones version came in at $400 I would be in for one at launch I think too. I just always assumed we would see a large price increase for the new gen consoles at launch.

Still definitely not lining it up over night, lol... will grab one once there more readily available if it launches at $400.

To be honest I'm more curious if they're going to jack up game prices again

With a more controlled used games model, games should really be made cheaper but I highly doubt that's the direction it will go

Agreed. I would play way more games and be more of a "gamer" if games were cheaper. As it stands $60 plus tax for a game at launch is just too much. I tend to wait for the game prices to drop to around $25'ish and by that time if Im being honest I forget about so many games :dunno: So much new content is being pushed onto my brain all the time from online and tv adverts, etc that I simply forget about games I intended to buy and play some day waiting for a price drop.

Don't forget most of the online community is gone as well.Unless it's call of duty any other games community will be gone.

Via Gamespot (and others)
Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter has weighed in on what he believes the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will sell for when they both launch later this year.

In a note to investors obtained by Games Industry International, Pachter said he believes the Xbox One will retail for $400, while the PlayStation 4 will debut at $350.

Pachter's pricing estimations are based on bill of materials figures of $275 for the PS4 and $325 for the Xbox One.

It's only what an analyst think but still...

Looking forward to the ps4, should be stupidly good. I most likely will get an Xbox at some point but not straight away
