The future of PlayStation is all about great games and entertainment, and at PlayStation Meeting 2013, we brought some of the brightest and most creative minds from the development community on stage to unveil the games that will define PS4. A partial initial lineup for PlayStation 4 includes first-party games from Guerilla Games (Killzone: Shadow Fall), Sucker Punch (inFamous Second Son), Evolution Studios (Driveclub), and Japan Studio (Knack), as well as titles from our partners such as Activision/Bungie (Destiny), Blizzard Entertainment (Diablo III), Capcom (Deep Down), and Ubisoft (Watch_Dogs). PlayStation also reinforced its commitment to self-publishing and the independent development community by having Jonathan Blow onstage who gave a sneak peek of his upcoming title The Witness. Finally, the incredible minds at Media Molecule and Quantic Dream gave glimpses of their conceptualization process and the future of gameplay with some remarkable footage. We only scratched the surface at the event, and will have many more exciting titles to come.

Our next generation console will change the way you interact with friends while you play. PlayStation 4 lets you instantly share images and videos of your favorite gameplay moments on Facebook with a single press on the DUALSHOCK 4 controller’s “share” button. You can also broadcast while you play in real-time through Ustream, allowing friends to comment or jump into your game in new ways.

With PlayStation 4 we also want you to access your games quicker than ever before. PS4’s “suspend mode” eliminates the load time on your saved game and allows you to immediately return to where you left off by pressing the power button. PlayStation 4’s background downloading and updating capability also allows you to immediately play digital titles as they download, or update the system when the hardware is powered off.

DUALSHOCK 4 adopts the familiar form factor of the DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller with some key enhancements:
  • - Motion control is enabled by a new highly sensitive six-axis sensor
  • - Dual analog sticks fine-tuned for better precision plus improved surface materials and shape for more delicate manipulation
  • - L2/R2 buttons on the top of the controller employ a curved design for easier, smoother interaction
  • - A new “Options” button combines the functions of the DUALSHOCK 3’s “Select” and “Start” buttons for operating in-game menus

You can see more images of the new DUALSHOCK 4 controller here.

Zavvi put it up for pre-order @ GBP 399. Price not confirmed. This is way too high from the rumored price of USD 429. Hope it drops when it goes official.

Prices for EU never reflect the USD cost. If you expect to guess the price by looking at EU pricing you'll be way off.

If its 399 USD then they'll probably charge 399 GBP, doesn't sound fair but look at prices of other Sony systems.

After giving this some thought and thinking hurts me someone might be able to shed some light on this

I assume that the picture will need 4k T.V to be at its optimum spec

So will the developers do the games on a 4k resolution OR will the machine upgrade / downgrade the image to whatever spec your T.V is ?

e.g T.V = 1080p Far Cry 3 = 720p .

Also the disks will they be Blu Ray OR will it mean a disk that will take a 4k image?.

As for price I don't think that they will start under £450 GB .

Also IF it looks a donkey will you still buy one? .

I've read on a few sites that mention that games will not be in 4K.

Same thing i saw.there may be a few movies that are 4k, but they have all but confirmed no game will be 4k.And thank God the price of the games won't be going up.60 bucks is kicking my ass as it is.

^^^ This. I wish the prices would drop if anything. I actually only buy about 3 games a year at full regular price now. I wait till' the price drop to around $30 before buying most other games. Had the prices gone up even more I think I would never buy games at release.

Yeah, if games were 80 bucks i would never be the guy saying " Day One".The only game i picked up for full price last year was Max Payne 3.Everything else i got use or for 20 bucks.

But from what i'm reading around it looks like Sony isn't going to do all the "bad" things they were rumored to be doing.there is no price hike in retail games, the next system plays used games and the console is suppose to be affordable this time around. The only thing that is messed up is not being able to play my ps3 games on the ps4, also not being able to use the DS3. how does the move work with the new console but not the old controller itself is beyond me.i wonder if i tape a blue light on to the front will that work:hilarious:.And how come no one has noticed that we are going to have to use a sensor on top of our tv's like the Wii has? They showed it at the conference but no one is talking about it.

My brother and I have started a PS4 fund. We're guessing this is going to cost a pretty penny, so we started a fund. I'm guessing with games it might cost around $600 dollars.

Yes agreed most of the "bad" things that were rumoured aren't being done it appears which is a huge relief. The reverse compatibility thing with games has never bothered me much but I do see how its a big deal to some. Im the type of gamer that plays a game and then when the next one comes out Im pretty much done with that game and I never play it again. The odd few I do play again but far and few between (like Arkham City, Uncharted, etc.)

Personally Im not into motion controllers and whatnot so I dont pay much attention to that stuff but I did notice that little sensor piece addition.

Awesome! I did that back in the day to purchase a PS2 at launch. I had a cup on my dresser and I'd put as much possible into it every pay cheque. Glad I did because buying a PS2 at launch was an exhilarating experience. Being "grown up" now, though, I wasn't able to purchase a PS3 at launch and it looks to be the same way with the PS4.
