The future of PlayStation is all about great games and entertainment, and at PlayStation Meeting 2013, we brought some of the brightest and most creative minds from the development community on stage to unveil the games that will define PS4. A partial initial lineup for PlayStation 4 includes first-party games from Guerilla Games (Killzone: Shadow Fall), Sucker Punch (inFamous Second Son), Evolution Studios (Driveclub), and Japan Studio (Knack), as well as titles from our partners such as Activision/Bungie (Destiny), Blizzard Entertainment (Diablo III), Capcom (Deep Down), and Ubisoft (Watch_Dogs). PlayStation also reinforced its commitment to self-publishing and the independent development community by having Jonathan Blow onstage who gave a sneak peek of his upcoming title The Witness. Finally, the incredible minds at Media Molecule and Quantic Dream gave glimpses of their conceptualization process and the future of gameplay with some remarkable footage. We only scratched the surface at the event, and will have many more exciting titles to come.

Our next generation console will change the way you interact with friends while you play. PlayStation 4 lets you instantly share images and videos of your favorite gameplay moments on Facebook with a single press on the DUALSHOCK 4 controller’s “share” button. You can also broadcast while you play in real-time through Ustream, allowing friends to comment or jump into your game in new ways.

With PlayStation 4 we also want you to access your games quicker than ever before. PS4’s “suspend mode” eliminates the load time on your saved game and allows you to immediately return to where you left off by pressing the power button. PlayStation 4’s background downloading and updating capability also allows you to immediately play digital titles as they download, or update the system when the hardware is powered off.

DUALSHOCK 4 adopts the familiar form factor of the DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller with some key enhancements:
  • - Motion control is enabled by a new highly sensitive six-axis sensor
  • - Dual analog sticks fine-tuned for better precision plus improved surface materials and shape for more delicate manipulation
  • - L2/R2 buttons on the top of the controller employ a curved design for easier, smoother interaction
  • - A new “Options” button combines the functions of the DUALSHOCK 3’s “Select” and “Start” buttons for operating in-game menus

You can see more images of the new DUALSHOCK 4 controller here.

^^^^ Thanks for the update info Noodles. But where is the media player for video files?!?!!? Xbone even has it now with there last update.... I want a media player like on the PS3, such a step backward to not include such a basic feature on the PS4.
There's still a few things coming in 2.0 that they haven't revealed yet, so who knows... a media player may be one of them. I wouldn't get my hopes up though. :(

Yeah I pretty much made up my mind, Ill be getting my first Microsoft console after almost a decade of loyal Playstation ownership and selling the PS4 if Sony doesn't give the PS4 a media player by years end supporting both music & video. What was it Sony said when they launched the PS4... "It only does everything".... uhm apparently not a basic media player because Sony's greedy and wants to shove there Music & Video Unlimited service down on you. I know Microsoft is no better then Sony when it comes to corporate greed but such a basic thing being omitted, and remaining omitted for so long after the competitor gave it to there customer's is where I draw the line. End of this year will be 4 months give or take since Xbox gave there console a media player, thats enough time for Sony to get sh!t done for their customers. If they dont I leave and so does my stream of money I would have spent on countless things Sony branded while owning the PS4 for years. Im sure one guy makes no difference to Sony, but you wait long enough and as the feature list gets bigger and bigger on the other side more people will leave me thinks, not to mention those still waiting to buy a new console... makes the purchase decision easier for some.

I'm the same to be honest... gaming and watching films is pretty much all I use my PS4 for, so the lack of a media player doesn't really bother me (I probably wouldn't use it even if there was one).
Same here, Games mostly now, and thats just sometimes when I play them. My PS3 was used for movies and Games but then I got an OPPO and use that for movies. Everything else on the PS4 I don't use. NO Uploading vids or pics or sharing.

I'm slightly concerned at this point. I picked up the PS4 on its release day, and while i was happy i did...i didn't touch it until The Last of Us: Remastered showed up. Now, this is a game i'd already played into submission on the PS3. Since then, I have tried Killzone, Wolfenstein, Destiny and Shadow of Mordor. All of these games were returned, because they simply didn't manage to keep me interested, or even make me feel like it was a worthy investment. Destiny came close, but they need to do A LOT of polishing before i'd even consider trying it again. As for November, there is only one game i am truly interested in, and that's Grand Theft Auto 5. Again, a game i have already spent hundreds of hours with on the PS3. However, this is a game i know i love, and will play even more, now that it'll look even better than it already did.

What bothers me the most, is the fact that the majority of these companies seemingly become increasingly more "OK" with releasing unfinished games, and making us pay extra for the "complete experience". Just a few years ago, we'd have laughed at the pathetic idea of buying a $30 "Season Pass" for a game - because it simply wasn't necessary. Today, we know about DLC before the games even come out...so it really isn't a matter of time restrictions, or game design ideas, or anything other than sucking more money out of the gamer. People claim this kind of thinking comes from a sense of entitlement...but honestly, who really wants to spend $60 on an unfinished / incomplete game? I have been a passionate gamer for 25 years, and i have never been more reluctant to buy a new game, than i am now.

Yeah, I really hate that! Destiny is a perfect example of how ridiculous DLC has become, because the "extra content" is actually already a part of the game and has been there since the game's release... they've just locked it off so people have to pay extra to get access to it. Most other developers are just as bad though... I love NaughtyDog, but charging people just for a few extra hats in TLoU is a joke IMO. Don't even get me started on all the CoD DLC. I'll leave my moaning there for now... I could spend all day bitching about DLC. :p

Man!!! My PS4 and PS3 have been collecting Dusts :'( I'm waiting on Dragon Age Inquisition on PS4 and have missed out on Evil among us and Destiny. PS3 I just turned it on to get the Free PS+ games of Dungeons and Dragons arcade classics from Capcom. Love those games!! Keeping it old school. I still play Streets of Rage 2 on PS3!!!!

Not sure what types of games everyone is in to but lords of the fallen comes out the 28th this month. Hoping it gets good reviews and plays well...it's similar to dark souls and then we have Dragon age coming out in November.

Destiny is on eBay for me, I just can't anymore lol. Hope I can get back some of that LE cost.

2015 is where its at for next gen man. February will be nuts. Bloodborne, witcher3 and order 1886 all in the same month. I feel that 2015 is when true 'next' gen games will hit.

@SBC28 I'm surprised you didn't like shadow of mordor. I thought it was really satisfying but it was a one and done game for me, got the platinum and sold it on eBay (perfect time to rant about zero feedback users on eBay buying items and taking days to pay, still no payment...rant over lol)

Besides Diablo 3 digital, I have 3 on disc ps4 games, shadow of mordor (sold/selling...) destiny (selling) and last of us lol. So I feel everyone's pain about next gen games..

And one last edit...mass effect trilogy remaster please!!

For sure! 2015 will be the real beginning of next-gen... no game released this year has truly blown me away, but I'm positive that won't be the case next year. Can't wait! :D

Initially, Shadow of Mordor seemed like a fun game. However, it took about an hour until i had the combat mechanics down, and destroyed any pack of uruks and pretty much every captain i ran in to. I even disabled several HUD features and didn't upgrade my health pool to see if it would be more challenging, but even that didn't do much. I forced myself to play through the "main" missions until i had killed the first round of War Chiefs, and accepted the fact that "this is what it is..." - in terms of the sheer amount of repetitive gameplay.

Diablo 3 is a fantastic game right now, but i've been playing it on PC since it's launch day. It was a big pile of steaming kaka when it was first released and it wasn't fixed until Reaper of Souls came out, so you guys definitely missed out on all of the bad, and got the game the way it was meant to be all along. If i didn't have a beast of a PC, i'd probably be playing it on PS4, other than The Last of Us: Remastered. Like i said, i'll be picking up Grand Theft Auto V for PS4 next month, as well as Halo: The MC Collection and Super Smash Bros. Wii U for the Missus. Though, she'll probably want LittleBigPlanet 3 and Dragon Age: Inquisition as well.

As for me...i'm just patiently waiting for the real Metal Gear Solid, the next Uncharted and maybe a God of War / Gears of War announcement. For now, i'll just stick to my 10 year relationship with World of Warcraft.

Hmm. Never even heard of Lords Of The Fallen, until now. If it's crazy hard, die a million times, like Demon's Souls and such, i probably won't play it.

How's everyone's DS4 controller holding up? Mine's only 5 months old, but it looks about 5 years old... the rubber has already started to peel on the left analog stick, and now the R2 trigger has come loose (I realised once opening it up that the plastic bar holding it in place had actually snapped). Also, half of the print on the barcode sticker placed on the back has worn off from where my finger rests while gaming. I blame CoD for the broken R2 trigger, since that's the shoot button and is used constantly and sometimes quite aggressively thanks to CoD's fact-paced gameplay.

Mine is holding up well so far but i've only played Last of Us and Infamous Second Son so it hasn't got much abuse as it would have with COD multi player or other fast paced games.

I Googled the R2 trigger thing and it seems to be yet another common problem with the DS4. I'm hoping to buy some new ones on eBay that have metal pins inside them, which obviously won't snap like the plastic ones. I went straight from Destiny to CoD, both of which I've played on tons. To be fair, I've pretty much played on my PS4 for a good few hours each day since I've had it. But still... I'd expect something of this value to last a lot longer!
