The future of PlayStation is all about great games and entertainment, and at PlayStation Meeting 2013, we brought some of the brightest and most creative minds from the development community on stage to unveil the games that will define PS4. A partial initial lineup for PlayStation 4 includes first-party games from Guerilla Games (Killzone: Shadow Fall), Sucker Punch (inFamous Second Son), Evolution Studios (Driveclub), and Japan Studio (Knack), as well as titles from our partners such as Activision/Bungie (Destiny), Blizzard Entertainment (Diablo III), Capcom (Deep Down), and Ubisoft (Watch_Dogs). PlayStation also reinforced its commitment to self-publishing and the independent development community by having Jonathan Blow onstage who gave a sneak peek of his upcoming title The Witness. Finally, the incredible minds at Media Molecule and Quantic Dream gave glimpses of their conceptualization process and the future of gameplay with some remarkable footage. We only scratched the surface at the event, and will have many more exciting titles to come.

Our next generation console will change the way you interact with friends while you play. PlayStation 4 lets you instantly share images and videos of your favorite gameplay moments on Facebook with a single press on the DUALSHOCK 4 controller’s “share” button. You can also broadcast while you play in real-time through Ustream, allowing friends to comment or jump into your game in new ways.

With PlayStation 4 we also want you to access your games quicker than ever before. PS4’s “suspend mode” eliminates the load time on your saved game and allows you to immediately return to where you left off by pressing the power button. PlayStation 4’s background downloading and updating capability also allows you to immediately play digital titles as they download, or update the system when the hardware is powered off.

DUALSHOCK 4 adopts the familiar form factor of the DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller with some key enhancements:
  • - Motion control is enabled by a new highly sensitive six-axis sensor
  • - Dual analog sticks fine-tuned for better precision plus improved surface materials and shape for more delicate manipulation
  • - L2/R2 buttons on the top of the controller employ a curved design for easier, smoother interaction
  • - A new “Options” button combines the functions of the DUALSHOCK 3’s “Select” and “Start” buttons for operating in-game menus

You can see more images of the new DUALSHOCK 4 controller here.

Are the PS3 to PS4 titles unavailable? I keep trying to upgrade my PS3 Injustice but PSN is saying it's unavailable (all the PS3 to PS4 titles say that actually).

It's getting lambasted on amazon.com with one star reviews, which mostly consist of the blue light of death issue. Granted, some of these may not be legit, but it makes you wonder. .4% fail rate, but 43% 1 star rating on amazon.com mostly because of this issue. Maybe amazon got more of the faulty systems. Who knows.

The only thing i dislike about Amazon reviews, is that you don't even have to buy the product to review it. Glad my system that came from Amazon works fine.

You do know when stuff breaks people will talk... But when they are enjoying their console they won't post a rating... A 1% fail rate is really really really good, that's 10,000 people...

I saw that its a shame because amazon does seem to have gotten a short straw with possible duds. But cant you review a item even if you didnt buy it? Thankfully no issues for me yet from my amazon shipment.

Also have anyone noticed a fair amount of heat at all. Ive only played 2-3 hrs at a time but every time everything feels pretty hot in the back hdmi cable internet cable power cable ect. Even the table is fairly warm as well. Am I being paranoid because I thought it would be much cooler.

I noticed when I took it back apart to box it back up, it was extremely hot where you plug the ac cord into. I decided to just give up and send mine back to Amazon for a refund, hopefully I can get one from Best Buy soon.

So guys, please give us your thoughts on which game/s is/are worth getting right from day one, have Killzone on preorder but some of you not liking it much, should I go for BF instead?

I didn't feel the heat, but i had my PS4 on for over 10 hours straight yesterday, and it didn't overheat.

The little chance I actually got to play the PS4, I was really liking COD:Ghost.

I have Killzone, Assassin's Creed 4, Resogun & Contrast. Truth be told, the only game i actually enjoy to play is Resogun. I think i'll pick up Madden 25 during the Black Friday craze, since it isn't easy to go wrong with that.

I've only played Killzone and Resogun. Resogun is cool but I prefer Killzone. Killzone is awesome imo. Probably the best game to get for the PS4 out of the gate.

I still cannot believe how bad Sony has been by not putting any Media connexion into the PS4...

PS3 was my player for everything I watch. Now... I have a brand new PS4 that I can only play game on it... nothing else... seems like going backward? :wtf:

Well, they did say this console as a gaming machine not a media hub.If you wanted those features you should have went left instead of right with you Next gen console purchase.

Thank you, i couldn't agree more. Back when the PS3 was released, they purposely made it much more than just a gaming console and they clearly advertised / marketed it that way. This time around, Sony never claimed the PS4 would by anything but a gamer's machine, and specifically designed it to be just that. In my opinion, anything beyond playing a PS4 game should be considered a "bonus feature".

Works the same as the PS3 for me. At least so far. Except no 3D playback.

Killzone isn't great, but not horrible. I'm about halfway(I think) It looks fantastic, but looks aren't everything.

NBA 2k14 is awesome. Although I really suck at it.

Playing and loving both Resogun and Killzone. No PS4 complaints from me. I barely ever used my PS3 for any of the media aspects, other than playing 3d blu-rays, since sony wouldn't make an update for my Sony blu-ray player to do so.
