I havent seen this movie yet so im really looking forward to getting this. Ive had it on pre-order for awhile now even with the "high" price. I think that in the end its' going to be worth it.

Good news on the Embossing/Debossing. Personally always favoured embossing because it seems a better finish and stands out beter, excuse the pun :)

This will be one good looking steelbook with embossing/debossing. Not seen the film yet and not heard good things but I'm willing to give it a go. I had to fight with the play website to get it though as my Internet was running slowly, I was worried i'd missed the chance to order it.

I've not seen a SteelBook that has embossing without it also being debossed too. With embossing there will also be debossing. Now just debossing without embossing is also common though.

Confirmed way back in an earlier post that this steelbook is going to have em/debossing. This was stated by Chadrtc in a post on the other forum he's a member of. Don't have any reason to doubt the accuracy of his info as he works for Play.com and has given both precise and advance information in the past which has proved true. So I am resting easy that this will indeed be em/debossed and be one of the best-looking SBs this year.

Hey guys, when chadrtc posted that, he was posting non-confirmed information.

So I wanted to let you know, any of you that purchased this steelbook based on the note from him saying that it would be embossed / debossed -

it is looking UNLIKELY to happen at this point. :(

Obviously we'll keep you guys posted with any new information, but unforutnately that note from chadrtc was a bit early, and frankly a bit premature.

Typically staff and mods here at HDN will only post information when it's confirmed, not when it's in the "works" or "to be determined" and this way you guys can depend on us to publish news that is not only timely, but also ACCURATE.

Sorry for any confusion or complications due to this information. :ninja:

Shame if that is the case. Still, em/debossing would be the icing on the cake for what is anyway a really attractive SB. Will keep my fingers crossed that they do manage to pull it off though.

Given the fact that the design has writing close to the edge, there was major concern from Fox and Play that it would weaken the case and cause other production issues if it were embossed.

So with that info, I'd say it's not going to happen. :(

is the title font that is currently being displayed the final design?

I posted a few pages back the original font that was used for the cinema release and it looks a lot classier than the font used for the steelbook

just trying to get my 2c in to make this release as perfect as possible ;)

I really hope this is glossy too. Don't want the shoddy matte finish of the Fox wave in June.

Taking it back to debossing, the Hellboy II steelbook has the title debossed which is close to the edge and it feels far from weak, so it's more than possible.

Except Safe House was by Universal who are the main studio who simply deboss titles in my experience. If this was to embossed/debossed it would be something like Chronicle I think, but that looks very unlikely based on previous comments in this thread.
