Damn 3D price!
I'm almost letting it pass because of the price, but something tells me that this one will become very rare after its release... and i enjoyed the movie.

I feel the same, but with the 3D, it's worth it.

I've caved in and ordered.

This will sell out before release easily.

Also at £23.99 there unlikely to be bought in bulk by a few people, or anyone but serious collectors!

Disagree. People will still bulk buy these regardless.

I'm amazed this is still available. It's been the first Steelbook in the search results for weeks and is even holding off the newly announced titles. Any update on number of these remaining?

Yep the price of this has put me off getting it, I don't see why I should have to pay extra for 3D when I can't use it.

To be fair its about the going rate on a lot of steelz on release date. Look at the FS steelz from Canada, a lot of them are around $30 - $40 with taxes. Quite a few from Amazon.de are around 30 euros and look at amazon.jp, your talking about double the price on some of theirs lol.

I do agree with you but I still think this should have had a 2D only steelbook release for people such as myself who don't own a 3D tv, they could have used different art work for them both and let us have the choice of 2D or 3D, also The Hinger Games steel was €21.99 in HMV on day of release and that had 3 discs yet they didn't add any extra cost onto it for those extra discs, so why are play charging more just for a 3D extra.

From a business point of view, 3D is for future use so that's why it is included and the studios will know a majority of people are gonna buy this. Regardless of the price, this will sell out as limited editions normally do.

In otherwords - studios don't really give a monkeys about everyone, as long as they make money and it's easier for them to release one version that's all they care :hilarious:

@blade803 - You are comparing apples with oranges. The hunger games was a 2D only with extras. That's different that Prometheus with 2D, extras and 3D...

I doubt anyone in the world has released a 2D and 3D steelbooks simultaneously. That would only drive the number of steels available for the title.

I will pay more for an extra 3D disc. Its all about futureproofing. I just don't think that the masses would go for the 4K format. I think 3D blu-ray is the last MASS Market physical format. We will get 4K video, but it will be uber niche. Even more so than laserdisc I believe.

BTW I can't wait to watch this one in my theater. I loved the movie. I think it got criticized too much. I will watch it over and over and over. :scat:

3D is a gimmick. Calling it the future, or purchasing a 3D enabled set 'future proofing' is pretty misleading.

4K is a way off, but resolution is king.

I think the price for this title is fair, even if the movie wasn't great. Sunny made a good point regarding the price of FS Steels at release. We've perhaps become too used to great Steels at great prices here in the UK! >:]
