It's matte but the pic of Hanks is gloss. The army case rivet things are debossed also if I remember correctly.

No debossing, just the spot gloss on the center photo with a premium matte finish.

I like this design alot, humble and understated, and the 2-disc tray is great, I can finally bring back the orphaned special features disc.

Definitely a little plain which I think can work really well in certain situations, but I'm not entirely sure it works here. I think if you didn't recognize that cover from the original poster, you almost wouldn't know what movie this was. Nothing about this really shines through for me unfortunately.
