you know that how ?

I feel too that somethings not quite right.
eCommerce settings.

Every cms system has the option to let you show or not show products which are sold out or don't have stock.

Shopify, magento, any other platform has this option.

I believe this is so. I'm not hoping it's a license issue with the movie or something else.

Good thing they did such a limited print run. There has been less talk about Sugar Man than any PA release in a very long time.
This has been very popular as far as I can see. This thread had 15 pages whereas King of Pigs had 11 and Zero Dark Thirty only had 7. The speed that this sold out also shows how popular PA releases are becoming.

2 hours to sell out is a pretty good indicator, regardless of the size of the run. Interest was definitely high, unless you're comparing to something like Nova, Kimchi, or Blufans

2 hours to sell two different Full Slip types with only 300 copies of each. 600 total copies made and went on sale for both international and local customers and still took that long to sell out. There is very little interest in this title IMO. Also look at how many posts on this forum. Why can't PA be compared to the big boys?

Zero Dark Thirty had a 5,000 total print run. There are 124 pages on HDN for ZDT Sigill, pretty funny :p I never said PA wasn't popular it's huge in the SB community, just not this particular title, which I bought btw. The King of Pigs Exclusive had a 1,200 print run but only 200 for international customers. KOP is an Asian Anime dubbed in Korean with optional Korean and English Subtitles. The 2nd printing of KOP with 250 copies for only international customers has yet to sell out and has been on PA's website for 9 months. Of course there is little interest in a Korean Anime with English Subtitles selling for $30. This is not Akira or Ghost in the Shell. Your acting like I am trying to smear PA or something?

It was 300 each for international customers only, not for international and local.

You answered your question by yourself. There is very little interest in this title and it sold out in 2 hours where a lot of ninjas thought it would be still available in the morning or even last longer. I think you can call that a successful release for Plain Archive.

@Sigill spoke about the Keep Case thread of ZDT, not the Steelbook thread. When you try to compare PA with the so called "big boys" search for a fair comparison. Take the last documentation released by Kimchi and Nova. "Side by Side". Released on May the 4th (be with you) Thread got 1 page. Still available to buy.

It is the risk for a company like PA when they pick movies most people never heard of, put a lot effort in artwork and bonus material and release it. And with success they sell out nearly every title. When you look at the regular Keep Case editions of those movies in your country you can get those for 5 bucks with dust on in every retailer. And without being biased towards PA, I can't see that the so called big boys pick a movie about a musician most of the world don't know about, gain interest in the release and sell out. They pick blockbuster. Nothing wrong. But not a fair comparison.

This is not some no name movie about a musician. It is a documentary than won at least 25 awards in 2013 including an Oscar. I realize that PA can't take many risks. They are regarded as the number 1 SB, Keep Case, anything company by tons of HDN members don' worry if I responded to your post I can't even imagine the number of responses regardless of what I said. I'm the one that took a risk by saying anything that could be interpreted as negative because there are so many members that couldn't even understand why someone would say such a horrible thing as," Good thing they did such a limited print run. There has been less talk about Sugar Man than any PA release in a very long time." Which is all I said in the 1st place. I could respond and say some things but who needs thex aggrivation. I even bought a copy lol.
Forget I said anything so terrible about PA your right and I'm wrong. The end.

There's no right or wrong. Only different opinions. Personally I would've liked the print run to be a little higher. It took them under 2 hours to sell out and could've easily had a higher print run and still sell it out.

Yes, this documentary won a lot of awards but movies that win awards aren't always easy to sell to the public. It's not a Marvel, Disney or big studio film. And I really like that PA almost exclusively release smaller films. They do take risks. But it keeps paying off. Mainly because they put so much time and effort into each release.

I don't understand why you put yourself now in that position buddy. You went along and spoke your mind. Some ninjas responded whats up in theirs. No aggravation, only good positive discussion. Thats what this page is about. Nobody might be right or wrong but my opinion is different. So no need to step back and let me look like a fanboy who can't argue neutral.

After every release the thread cools down, goes some spots back and with shipping and in-hand it goes back up. So your argument was simply wrong in my eyes and I try'd with my bad english to express what I feel about this release. You started a new discussion with "why can't PA not compared to the big boys" So I try'd to go in with that. You can't compare a documentation release to any kimchi/blufans/nova release besides documentations. And the only release was "side by side". Still after winning all these awards most people dont know ish about this release or even about Sixto Rodriguez.

I got the german keep case for about two years now, and everyone I asked about didn't know anything about this

I agree that PA is a tremendous company I just don't feel like getting into a large discussion about this. All I started out by saying was that I was surprised in the lack of posts in this thread, that was it. Thank You for your replies.

But when we start a large discussion maybe that would help with the lack of posts :hilarious:

No worries, @Jaxxx. Nobody is putting you in the crosshairs. We're just having a discussion about the level of interest in this release. I don't think anybody believes you were slandering PA, and so what if you were?

I was just saying that for a low key movie in a keepcase (not steelbook), it sold out very very quick. Much quicker than I expected, and so I missed out on it because of that. I wish they would have allocated more international copies so that I could get my hands on one.

Documentary or not, PA sticks to smaller art house films. They don't generate buzz by the films they release, they generate it by the quality of their releases (which most of their customers would also argue starts with the actual chosen films). This is why I am personally gravitating towards them over other companies like FilmArena.
