True, there is that. And while the previous KimchiDVD exclusives have been region-free, I don't think that any of them were published by Art Serve (the media company for Snowpiercer).
their prior releases being region free is why I didnt hesitate to order when I had the chance - some prior kimichi exclusives I own were also listed as Region A on the site, but have all worked fine on my region B player.

My problem is that Art Serve Digi-whatevers prior releases, that Choi mentioned when 'confirming' region for this title, have been both locked and unlocked, so saying Snowpiercer will follow suit, is highly misleading when there have been variations in prior releases.

Of course, but I don't think that you'll have any problems finding somebody, e.g., at HDN, who'll be happy to take it off your hands and cover your costs :)
tis true, but its such a nice release for a great movie, even region locked I'd be hard pushed to sell/trade - I'd rather hold off in hopes of a UK release and swap out the discs I think. I dont know. Guess we'll see.

Smaller companies (e.g. those typically seen as serving a local geographic market) are often bound by licensing agreements to region-lock (or state such) titles when other companies handle the distribution for the same title in different geographic regions. That's why, for example, Criterion are practically always locked to region A and SC or MOC are locked to region B for the same titles. Since this title is yet to be released worldwide, I expect Kimchi needs to stay tight-lipped until those pending releases reach their markets (or until consumers confirm region coding on their own).

Forgive me Choi if I've spoken out of turn...
