With all the controversy i totally missed the price mark up on this particular version. The going rate for a cheaply made 1 disc catalog re-release is around £9.99.

...but then again getting scalped is ok as long as it's being done by a multi million retailer, and not some guy on ebay with 3 kids and a dog to feed, right guys?

In any case, its not 3 disc, its not gonna be heavy gauge steel like the old quality titles. And we'll see about gloss. Probably not heavy gloss like the old.

If this is true about the gloss and you collect because you like the look it only takes a $3 can (spray) of high gloss clear coat to add that affect rather than paying for the original. If it already has a light gloss 1 coat should do otherwise 2-3.

Its not your typical buy a can from the store gloss ... and if you think u can spray perfectly and 100% evenly then have a shot at it ... Let a lone to mention this steel wont be as thick gauge like from the glory days.

I collect for many-a-reasons and while I've held this steel in my hand on 2 diff occasions I've never once owned it. The last time I held it I gave it away for free during a give-away. :D

So, this steelbook is not going to be a Zavvi exclusive?

Probably will be in UK .... and thus they can label it as such. Tho it will appear in other Countries.

True, you need to use a automotive grade clear coat but and need to wipe the steel down with naptha or alcohol so no fingerprints get stuck behind the clear coat. (if you don't have experience practice before attempting a steel) I did it with the $9 WB line from Best Buy and they look really good, I could start a thread on how to add professional finishes. You can add the crackle affect, a metallic clear coat, and I'm attempting and candy paint steel etc. Just trying to help those who love steels just not the prices.:scat:

Wreck, do you mean that there could be a Star Trek Taiwan or Korea? That would be really exciting.

Now that would be fun! I imagine that could be a possibility given the second film is likely to get a worldwide release seeing as how big it will be!

Is there really a going rate for any type of steelbook?
I look at all types , Triple play, catalogues and there is no real pricing scheme.

Also, if thats your situation perhaps a hobby that includes prices that could be high is not the best idea. If you are afraid of being "scalped".
My brother has 3 kids and hardly buys anything nowadays.

We don't even know yet if the first Zavvi steelbook will look anything like the Play version do we?

It might (but probably without the blue banner) or it might not. The image is just a placeholder. I wouldn't be surprised if the first version ends up looking something like the German edition, and the second one is something entirely new.
