There are two different order descriptions for each Steelboook:
1. Star Trek XI - Zavvi Exclusive Limited Edition Steelbook [Blu-ray] (Black)
2. Star Trek XI - Exclusive Limited Edition Steelbook [Blu-ray] (White)

As far as I can tell there are four finishes for Steelbooks.
There's the matt finish like that seen on the US TDKR, The US/CAN Bournes and Prometheus.
There's the thin coat shiny like the CAN Expendables 2 and Many German releases.
The double coat lustre finish as seen on Untouchables, Shooter and the UK TDKR.
And finally there's the thick coat high gloss as seen on War Of The Worlds and the original Star Trek XI.
I hope the reprint will have the same hi gloss finish or at least the double coat as seen on untouchables with the ship glossy on a lustre background.
Most imperfections we have been plagued with (Bournes, TDKR) have been on single coat matt finishes, followed by thin shiny coats.

Wreck said a few pages back its not going to be the same finish or quality as the original.

Stop posting this misinformation. You keep saying that the print run is confirmed without backing it up. Posting information like this is confusing and not helpful at all.

I've subscribed to this thread to keep myself updated on info on this Steelbooks release as I'm going to buy it regardless of what people think of it.

I'm sick of getting email notifications of which version is best, more valuable, who paid what amount for whatever etc....

Can we just accept this for what it is and move on? I don't care about the Play version (that's a whole seperate thread) I just want info on this release.

Hmm. Dont matter wat I say , as they will just delete it any way

but , for the 30 seconds or so that it is still on here : IMO !!!!!!!!!

why would any one , who is a serious Collector , be it Old or New , or bought the Play Version upon release or just recently, want to sell it now??

this will almost certainly just enhance the Play version even more as it does have all them extras as pointed out in the Play Thread ...

As far as I have I can see or read, its just the Re-sellers who are not happy about this zavvi release , and I think that its just fantastic that its such a great looking steel book @ such an affordable price for so many fans now !!

Have to say my immediate reaction was "WTF, this is it I'm out" Then I pondered longer, and it's always good to ponder longer. In itself the release is OK there is a difference between this and original release. For those that want the film in a Steelbook at an affordable price they'll have it, imo it still doesn't detract much from the play release. Similar comparison would the play release of Sweeney Todd with booklet to the usual release or the FNAC releases.

Ultimately I would agree if it opens the collectors market to more people then as TC says it will have a positive effect on the original play release.

This is about the Star Trek steelbook.

What if, someone bought/pre-ordered every copy available, just one person ordered them all. £14.99 each. According to evidence for, hype on this forum, "similar" previous re-releases (IM), the chances of the price rising is very much in that persons favour.

Worth thinking about ......

With this coming out 4 days before the next star trek film is released (into darkness) this is obviously being released to help hype & coincide with the new film.

with this being a zavvi exclusive is it possible that when into darkness gets a steelbook (assuming it does) that it too will be a zavvi exclusive
