Most quantity restrictions by retailers are applied on the basis of quantity per account.

Basically Zavvi don't want their stuff being re-sold, so if they see more than 5 copies on your account they will assume that the purchase is being made for commercial purposes and will probably scrap the order.

Not gonna be many Group Buys for Zavvi exclusives then I guess...

Not to mention, scalpers usually put items up on ebay as soon as they pre-order. Just think of the many unhappy customers who actually buy from the scalpers on ebay.... The ones who had their orders of over 5 cancelled.

10 pounds x 4,000 steelbooks = 40,000 pounds - Correct but the figure is possibly very different when you calculate the total as it changes hands. This is why Studios have started re-releasing movies in Steelbook format.

Yeah, once you take away VAT/tax, manufacturing/design, license, distribution/postage, return costs and other ancillary expenses you aren't really left with a great deal of pure profit on limited runs.

I'm quite surprised this one hasn't come back into stock, what with Zavvi cancelling some orders for multiples over 5 copies, and people cancelling their own orders in favour of the black version. I wonder if this will be like Nemo and pop back up for sale again?

zavvi still can't confirm whether or not they are actually releasing 2 different steelbooks according to the response i got from them today, as follows;
' I can confirm that the items could arrive with the same case but we are unable to guarantee it as this moment in time. If you receive the item and it is in the same case you do have the option to return the item.'

I got a notification, with no warning or option to change the mailing address to a UK one, that they have cancelled my order, as they do not ship out of the UK. Anyone outside of the UK got this notification?

Much prefer the white design, black is nice but I don't think it constitutes another purchase, God knows I've done that a few times with favourites (Blade Runner I'm looking at you)

Sorry to hear that mate. That really surprises me as I'd imagine a good portion of all Zavvi orders are from overseas customers?

Looks like zavvi are facing the wrath of poor packaging, returns & refunds and almost zero shipping rate to overseas. Always been wondering how a company can afford and looks like they realized it.

Fair enough they have to increase their international shipping charges, 99p worldwide was unbelievably cheap - but to just abruptly cancel people's orders (not talking about bulk orders over 5) and close accounts is such bad business.
