I don't see why all the complaining is about. Sure it's 4:3 ratio but that just means you'll get black bars on either side instead of on the top and bottom like you would with a 16:9. Same difference in my opinion.

The series was filmed in 4:3 ratio and cannot be changed. If you go back through the thread for the first season SteelBook I display a video off of YouTube where they talk about the transfer process and why they couldn't make it 16:9 ratio.

Plus your getting an improved picture quality over the previous DVD editions as well as uncompressed audio. So there's little to complain about.
Can't you just adjust the picture on you TV so it fills the screen?

We'd get that with any blu-ray release.

Not entirely true. I have a blu ray (A Christmas Story) and they did make it 16 x 9 on the 1:85:1 aspect ratio, but the audio isn't even stereo. It is Dolby Digital: 1.0. I was like whaaat! If you are going to release it on Blu-ray, at least have stereo. Before others chime in and say it's not possible, I also have all the Charlie Brown DVD's that are mono sound and they were upgraded cheaply to other versions of DVD and now Blu-rays. So, it depends on the studio's to make their decisions, but I do understand that the entire series would be a PITA to do that much work and money without return. Although, I think it would have been easier for later editions after Blu-ray. After all....our content will have greater pixels than 1080P.

I just got an automated email from Amazon about the delay with a 5 EURO coupon for my next order. It's valid till next April, so we can use these for Season 3 or whatever....

At least it's better than nothing, although I would have preferred a 5 EURO discount on this order.

Some bad news about the season 2 remastering, CBS has farmed out season 2 to a different digital effects company and so far the results is way below the standard of the first season.

CBS Digital who did the spectacular work remastering season 1 is only doing the odd numbered seasons due to the compressed release schedule :( The good news is that the company who did the second season will not be working on future seasons.

I am considering cancelling my order and getting it when its much cheaper.

That just sucks. We've waited years for them to do this. Then they announced they were going to painstakingly remaster the entire series. Can't believe they're now cutting corners - I'd much rather wait longer for each season and have it done right first time.

I probably wouldn't have bought the first season if I knew this before. :(
