Firstly, no one doubts that this is indeed a n incredible looking steelbook, and we all appreciate the input from Choi for making it so.

But what I question is this;

1. Why did they take it off for sale a few weeks back when people were already seriously questioning the amount actually available?
2. Were they concerned about cancellations if it became abundantly clear about the actual print run over that period prior to release?
3. Are we now honestly expected to believe that with the figure of 700 or so declared as remaining in stock last night, that it remains a 1.5k release with the amount of sales gone through today?
4. Lastly, why have Kimchi now removed from their website about this being a 1.5k release?

In Wreck I trust implicitly, in Kimchi's/Choi's declarations we can all make our own assumptions.

It is also one of THE MOST reissued titles in the history of home video...I would bear that in mind.

It was that reason alone why I only originally purchased 1 copy. And the fact that there is already at least 3 different versions of this on the market AND one of them already is a GRAIL! But with all that being said...I still bought another two copies! I honestly think this is the ONE to get!

Being re issued in amaray numerous times does not count.

Japan has released this twice in steelbook format. Both sell for plenty of $$$ with the black one the most coveted one amongst most collectors ( Not me :D )

UK and Germany have had identical releases in silver matte ish finish. Can be found quite easily if you are looking for one and doesnt cost alot.

This will be the one to get if you dont have either v1.0 or v2.0 and even those who have them are getting this. From what we have seen, this is absolutely awesome.

+1
It would be just fair if Kimchi would inform us about the printrun.
The Steelbook is one of the greatest no question, but there are so many people who are also interested to have information about the run.
If the printrun would be 3000 units...No Problem!, but please mention it before you create a "hype" (low printrun, great steelbook package) and put a clearly high amount back online after it was OOS for weeks.

Well, maybe I am a bit laid back about the issue since I don`t see me going in to personal bankruptcy if I don`t get my money back IF I decide to sell one of the spares. I mean 2 of these beauties shipped worldwide for 85 bucks. Isn`t 42,50 each a fair price for this release even if the print run would exceed 1500? Just my 2 cents...peace! :)

I think it's more about being told one thing, and then ending up finding out it's not true. At this point, we don't really know anything for a fact.

Declaration of the print run would have been a deciding factor in why the amount of copies has shifted since 1am.

Most of us suspected that the print run was far greater than what we've been told just on the basis of how many copies were available first time round and the amount of times it's come back into stock since, even before last night.

I think your spot on mate!

All this thread seems to be about is the print run, does it really matter that much? Its looking like turning into a must have asian steel, it looks amazing not to mention the excellent price as well, surely a limited print run is just an added bonus and hopefully not the reason were all so in love with it! For me it will be one of my favs along with the 7 Psycopaths HDN x 10, when it arrives ;)

The reason the print run is so important is that alot of collectors are looking for the next GRAIL! Nothing stands out anymore and everything is mass produced in multiple countries!

Fair enough, but collecting isnt just about numbers its mostly about having an awesome steelbook!

Whats with all this speculation about the print run? Its been over 15 pages, half of the posts are over the print run in question. I answered this matter way back on page 71. If you did not read it, it basically says that a company (Kimchi in this case), will print AS MANY as whats demanded. If 25,000 is demanded, they will print 25,000. They are there for their profit, not so that you can have the next grail. Sad but true, I don't like it either, but I'm no fool. The only reason why I'm keeping my order is because this is a very popular title. If it was a lesser title, I'd cancel my order out of principal. The only thing you can do is keep this in mind for their next "limited" release. Thats goes for all companies. They tend to sacrifice long term success for short term gain. Happens every time, money will do that.

Well put. All this talk about print run is pointless. I think it has been said before that most numbers are guesses. Nothing is confirmed. If I were a retailer, I would not put that out there. As consumers we only know what we are told. Many thought IM play was sold out. There seems to be copies popping up at retailers like ES. Same was thought of Warrior only to pop back up on amazon DE, IT, Spain. Tron 3D/2D Germany was long sold out, then cede has so much stock now its not sold out. Part of the same print run just without German rating logo. Studios are in this to make money so more are always printed. Supply and Demand. When demand is high, supply will be upped to meet the demand.

I just had a friend in Korea tell me that he purchased this on a Korean website called "yes24.com" I can't seem to find the link to the item though... He also said it was limited to 1000 EEK! I really don't know what's going on anymore. Maybe what Wreck said about a larger print run being shared is true with this release.

I really think you should trust Choi on this topic. He has said 1500 like 10 times in this thread now, and it has been debated a number of times only to be concluded with the same every time, which is that Choi says 1500... Then its 1500. He knows what he`s talking about.
As to another store selling this... I really dont think so since this is kimchi exclusive nr 1.
But by all means ask Choi. If he doesnt know, nobody does...

I can't take it anymore. Every other post is about the print run and not about what could potentially be one of the best looking Steelbooks released to date. I'll come back to this thread when some actual pictures are posted because that's all I care about now.
