I must admit I didn't notice the limited stock, but I won't lose sleep over this one. The front does look great, but the film would be a blind buy for me anyway.

I will say I watched this with three other people when it first came out on dvd, half way through I looked around to see all three asleep, but for myself I was hooked on every scene. So I can see why some people can't wait to get this and other feel its total garbage. It really works for some people, and not for others.

This is a great film. When Scorsese and DiCaprio collaborate the final product always seems to deliver.

I don't understand some of the hate for the 2k print run. The artwork looks fantastic with a gloss finish and they elected not to flood the market with 4k copies of another catalog title steelbook. Zavvi does something right for a change (in my opinion) and yet the hate continues lol. If you only want this for the film just buy the cheap amaray version.

I prefer limited print runs, makes your collection and the films you love that much more unique. To each their own though, that is just how I feel. Although I can understand the frustration the term "Sold Out" causes...it has happened to me quite a bit.

I enjoyed the film well enough to own and when I saw the steelbook I was impressed so I put in a preorder. Was shocked to see that it is already sold out - didn't realize it was a 2k print run!

It well be or not...The fact people are on about a limited release seems to equate must get it before it sells out...I get the felling the film itself is besides the point...

I get your point but the reason I ordered this is because I believe its a good film whereas something like Pain and Gain which had a similar print run, I wouldn't even buy if it was limited to 50 copies

Hmm, Zavvi emailed me a "Steelbook Alert" about this.

It's funny, as I just bought the standard Amaray last week. Haven't watched it yet, but it doesn't look up to par with Scorsese's other work, so passed on this steel deal. I still think a Departed UK steelbook is long overdue. I would surely double-dip for that at the same price for this steelbook

Wreck has stated in the past that Play made very little profit on steelbooks that they sold, so it is likely that Zavvi make very little profit on any steelbooks that they sell for under £15.

Per individual steelbook, yes (altho u culd argue that the actual production value of one of their steels is closer to £5-6, meaning they probably dbld their money & made a decent profit on their £10.99 items) - but dont forget that the "sell em low, pile em high" model works due to overall volume sold, not individual sale price.

...and play.com certainly sold alot of exclusive steelbooks in 2012. The majority also went oos in reasonable time frame i think :movie:

Perfect for my Scorsese Steelbook Collection!

I have the uk taxi driver, BB Goodfellas & shutter island plus the uk. Ca gangs of New York. I saw it was 2k limited print so I got 2 copies pre ordered, one to make up for pain & gain I missed out on...

This, Departed and Catch Me If You Can are 3 movies where Leo was at this best.

and OCD collectors should grab this as the character himself was OCD in the film.:hilarious:

You have to watch also The Wolf Of Wall Street, i think its one of the best roles of Leo and another great movie of Scorcese
