Not quite unexpected but this is the first “official” confirmation I know of. The Blu Collection sadly doesn’t exist anymore.

The screen below is part of a chat with cinema_four IG profile. It’s a cinema/cafè somehow connected with 4rest design studio.

As far as I understood it’s not very news, since it happened weeks ago and that Korean communities already knew because it was announced on forums like DVDprime.

They put out great slips. I even love their stickers. I heard this rumored somewhere but was hoping this wasn't true, because Loving Vincent creative edition had recently come out, but there has not been a new title released for some time. I will post a memorial shot of my Blu Collection once the final title reaches me...

Oh man. We all saw it coming but this hurts:(. I only own a few releases from them but all of their editions seem incredible..

Very sad news.

What strikes and makes me sad the most is that they had the gut (the money? the chance?) to release some beautiful WEA steelbooks for unexpected and little titles---- think about "Let The Right One In" or "IT Follows" for example - and now it's all gone. It's all spiderman and joker and whatnow now as for WEA steel. I mean I like them too but there's also other. A LOT. Who will take this "experimental" legacy? No one I guess atm, for a number of reasons.

Hard times for us, very much so

I could not agree more. The Blu Collection has given us leftfield gems in stunning packaging. I think Plain Archive could carry the flag as they have quality titles released on DVD or in preparation for BD (Jackie, The Florida Project, Thelma, Detroit, Monster Calls just to name a few), but they are unusually quiet as well. These are hard times for this industry.

Sad news. The Blu and also PA? Blu had great taste in movies and released so many that no one else did (looking at you Moon, Lobster, Memento or Miss Sloane) and PA was my go to when it comes to festival movies. Who will be releasing such titles now? :( :( :(

Don't get your hopes up. Read what @moviewizguy has posted in the release thread for "Portrait of a Lady on Fire":

Sad.
I remember the discussion, but they posted it last November. In the meantime they have lauched preorders for the Believer steelbook, teased both the Monster Calls and Little Drummer Girl steelbooks, the Moonlight on 4k and the Portrait of a Lady on Fire on BD. I have hope that Plain will return.

Great colleciton @WKRP
I wish I had known about The Blu a bit earlier. Missed out on quite a few titles. A Chinese Odyssey, Mr. Nobody, and Midnight Diner, for example.

Ah man that’s such a shame about blu and PA. 2 of my favourites. but I did have a hunch.
I really wanted suspiria to be released under blu. I’m not massive on the Ons designs even though they are apparently the same design team or something.

And PAs twitter is so weird at the moment with the constant book and screenplay posts. I had a feeling something was up but kinda shaked it off that COVID had interfered for a bit with steelbook releases.

Well I really hope we still get a monster calls and little drummer girl from PA before their proper transition

I had completely missed that about PA also.... some of my favourites in my collection are Blu (The Raid, It Follows) and PA (ZDT, Train to Busan) :(

Plain Archive is not dead as for Blu-ray releasing. It just took a (pretty large) step back and atm its focus are books and screenplays. They are still working on Blu-Ray releasing and in the future we will have other PA gems!:happy:

Oh ok. So will that include SteelBooks too? Or just their standard blu ray releases?

Basically, are you saying there’s still hope for monster calls and drummer girl? :woot::watch:

I don't know anything specific. I wish I do!

I just know for sure that they are not out of the "Blu-ray premium" game. They are exploring other publishing areas at the moment but they havent given up on Blus!
