Q) What is the purpose of this thread?
A) To discuss Ebay policies/issues

Q) Where can i find the Ebay Presale Policy?
A) Click HERE

Q) Can a HDN Trade mod help me with an Ebay sale/trade issue? Also why is there no 'ebay bad traders' list?
A) Simply put, no. To find out why, ensure you read the following spoiler:
please use this thread as a RESOURCE to ask your fellow members about problems you've had with a reseller or questions about e-bay.

do NOT use this thread to attack or refute other members. if you an e-bay dispute with a member here, perhaps it's best to approach a trading mod before posting? we don't police e-bay, but maybe we can give you a tip or two.

if members ignore these suggestions, then the thread might be locked for a couple of weeks.

thank you.

hey folks,

as a reminder what myself (and other mods) have continued to mention via private message, e-mail and other areas. we do NOT police other trading marketplaces like ebay, youtube, amazon and the rest.

there is ONLY a certain amount of information at our disposal and we do not have the resources in these other locations as we do on this forum - things that we can look at and evaluate.

having said that, there are trading rules on this forum that have been instituted for your own protection for trading transactions that happen HERE.

this includes the pending / active sales threads, the requirement of feedback posted for any new traders, our support ticketing system, the active investigations held by trading moderators and many other things we do not discuss openly.

we have long held that problems occurring on these other forums and marketplaces should be taken the appropriate authorities on THOSE websites.

many of you are established traders here on this forum and you should know all about the guidelines that are stickied in this section - including having new traders send first, getting tracking from the other party and proof of shipment, and what other precautions can be taken to protect your trading safety.

trading via ebay and their messaging system is against their stated policy and should not occur - and there are reasons why they have created that policy. you don't have protection of paypal or their listing system as a buyer or seller.

having said that, if there is trouble with an ebay seller or buyer, you should go to their website and report it there. if you are not aware of this process, follow the below link for more information.

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/buy/report-trading.html

so folks can feel free to chat about a seller or buyer that they are having problems with, but I can tell you right now - there will not be a "witch hunt" by moderators or staff based on one person's account of the problems or trouble they are having - and we limit the action taken for or against members here to transactions that occurred on this forum.

as stated in the thread title of our bad traders list - that list is for FORUM MEMBERS ONLY.

thank you.
Q) Where can i find the HDN Buyer Beware / Bad Traders list?
A) You can find the thread HERE

Has anyone dealt with vincent77250 . I think he's from France. Anyhow I sold an Iron Man 2 play.com , but I had to use the US combo pack information in the listing as ebay said they required it.. Now he want's the other discs that were supposed to come with it. I offered 10$ as that should be sufficient, but he wants the value of a new combo pack. I'm thinking about just making him send the sealed Iron Man back, as from his buying history, he does buy steelbooks frequently so I am sure he knows what he was getting, just wants to extort extra $ from me. Or get a free combo pack so he can keep the steel sealed.

How come you had to put the pre installed info in, ive never used that in any of my listings? Anyways id get him to send it back coz hes clearly speaking bull if hes a steelbook collector.

I don't know.. I get these red notices at the top that says please enter required information.. maybe it's not required?? If that's the case, i'll stop doing that immediately.

i have already sold stuff on ebay.com, ebay.co.uk and .de and i can confirm you never have to use these pre-installed infos.you can skip this part:thumbs:

I get a guy who says the steelbook looked great after he opened it, but now says it looks like the thing wont shut properly. I put the disclaimer in every listing about inspecting it before opening. I also look at his bid history and he bought the same movie from another person a month ago. I look at the photo and you can clearly see that the middle of the steel is pushed in, because the plastic wrap is not tight on the steel. THis is for Prometheus U.K.

Hey Chip,

I have found in the past disclaimers mean nothing to eBay. If the seller opens a case item received damaged they will side with the buyer and expect you to resolve the issue.

It is so frustrating as a seller when you do everything on board by registering as a business, provide a professional service and offer returns and when it comes to some help eBay turns a blind eye.

I would give eBay a call before he opens a case.

All the best mate and let us know the update

Hi there Chip..

I am a power seller/top rated seller on ebay and have been for quite awhile now, so I have run into several similar situations as you are dealing with now...
In the past 60 days I have sold $14,862 worth of items on ebay and I get no special treatments believe me.......

As gbdragon stated eBay does is NOT interested in backing their sellers disclaimers at all and when given the option they will side with the buyer almost regardless of the situation... :(
Calling ebay support has done nothing but frustrated me in the past as most of the tech support have never sold a single item on eBay and are off-shore so speak poor English and if you call before a case is open, they say they are powerless to do anything until a case is being processed..

This all being said if my buyer ever has a complaint I do everything I can to resolve it with the buyer on my own (ebay out of the picture, because once they are involved the buyer wins PERIOD)..

In a situation as yours I would remind the buyer of my policies, but ensure them I'll do what I can to resolve it with them (within the limitations of ebays and my own policies) and then ask them how they'd want to resolve it.
In most cases they are looking for a free hand out so they don't want to send the item back to you, they just want some $$ for free...
And in most cases after finding this out, I press for them to send it back and they end up just dropping it as they know they are in the wrong and the item is perfectly fine... lol
Sorry for the long reply but hopefully it will help a little!

He auction is actually ok - He's got a 30 day auction and can deliver within 30 days of the auction finishing, so it's within ebays rules.

Its a buy it now i was under the impression that you couldnt do it untill 30 days of release date?

It's a loophole, but ebay use something similar as one of their examples

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/pre-sale.html

Feel free to report it though to see if ebay do close it down, although auctions for LGB, UP and OZ have been up for months.

Not sure this is the right place for this discussion, so these posts may be deleted :)

It isn't me, and this is not about 'sides'. We are not 7 years old in a school playground :)

The only rule he has broken is listing them early. He was perfectly entitled to buy 5 copies, and he is entitled to sell them

If you don't like this, then so be it, but it is your issue to deal with.

To confirm, I have also reported it, because he is breaking the presale rule.

Edit: Out of interest, why doesn't he 'deserve 5 copies just to sell' ?

Edit 2: DigitalBabe put it more eloquently than I ever could back in the OMG thread :)

Mnementh so out of interest do you think its ok to buy 5 just to sell? I blame zavvi us well they should of limited it to 1 per customer when its so limited. I actually hope it gets released in every country so it doest become so rare and sought after.
