Q) What is the purpose of this thread?
A) To discuss Ebay policies/issues

Q) Where can i find the Ebay Presale Policy?
A) Click HERE

Q) Can a HDN Trade mod help me with an Ebay sale/trade issue? Also why is there no 'ebay bad traders' list?
A) Simply put, no. To find out why, ensure you read the following spoiler:
please use this thread as a RESOURCE to ask your fellow members about problems you've had with a reseller or questions about e-bay.

do NOT use this thread to attack or refute other members. if you an e-bay dispute with a member here, perhaps it's best to approach a trading mod before posting? we don't police e-bay, but maybe we can give you a tip or two.

if members ignore these suggestions, then the thread might be locked for a couple of weeks.

thank you.

hey folks,

as a reminder what myself (and other mods) have continued to mention via private message, e-mail and other areas. we do NOT police other trading marketplaces like ebay, youtube, amazon and the rest.

there is ONLY a certain amount of information at our disposal and we do not have the resources in these other locations as we do on this forum - things that we can look at and evaluate.

having said that, there are trading rules on this forum that have been instituted for your own protection for trading transactions that happen HERE.

this includes the pending / active sales threads, the requirement of feedback posted for any new traders, our support ticketing system, the active investigations held by trading moderators and many other things we do not discuss openly.

we have long held that problems occurring on these other forums and marketplaces should be taken the appropriate authorities on THOSE websites.

many of you are established traders here on this forum and you should know all about the guidelines that are stickied in this section - including having new traders send first, getting tracking from the other party and proof of shipment, and what other precautions can be taken to protect your trading safety.

trading via ebay and their messaging system is against their stated policy and should not occur - and there are reasons why they have created that policy. you don't have protection of paypal or their listing system as a buyer or seller.

having said that, if there is trouble with an ebay seller or buyer, you should go to their website and report it there. if you are not aware of this process, follow the below link for more information.

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/buy/report-trading.html

so folks can feel free to chat about a seller or buyer that they are having problems with, but I can tell you right now - there will not be a "witch hunt" by moderators or staff based on one person's account of the problems or trouble they are having - and we limit the action taken for or against members here to transactions that occurred on this forum.

as stated in the thread title of our bad traders list - that list is for FORUM MEMBERS ONLY.

thank you.
Q) Where can i find the HDN Buyer Beware / Bad Traders list?
A) You can find the thread HERE

I need some advice re ebay.

A buyer from Belgium bought 2 steels from me about 2 weeks ago. Now he is saying the steelbooks are dented in transit and showed me a picture of the carton box which is severely damaged.

He wants to send back for replacement but the shipping cost with tracking is very expensive. Who should be paying the return postage? The buyer or me as the seller?

Just an update for my case... I have agreed to split the return shipping with the buyer 50%/50%. Hoping to keep a customer happy :)

Thanks very much for everyone's advice.

I sent an invoice to the buyer who is based in the EU. Payment was received but the shipping address has changed from EU to Canada. This means it will cost 3 GBP extra to ship as the destination is outside EU. I had requested the buyer to pay the extra cost which has been accepted. Do you think I was being fair considering that I am charging exactly what Royal Mail is charging?

I've blocked this buyer from ebay melrx8 from USA. He wins one steel, tells me to hold onto it for him as he wanted combined cheaper shipping. He wins a second steel. So I discount the shipping, although I did want to send it tracked, but sent it as standard shipping as both shipping paid were by airmail. Of course he claims so called 'missing packages' and ebay refunds the buyer. Doesn't matter if you show proof of postage, photos of shipping. So the buyer wanted cheaper shipping knowing it is sent air mail and when it doesnt arrive then cries to ebay. Second time this has happened and now I'm going to send everything recorded over seas or might not even ship over seas now.

I always semd recorded, sign in with tracking - no matter if the Buyer wants it or not.

I just wanted to add this guy here: retrotimes72

Bought Incredibles and the Brave (FS Exclusives) steelbooks from this guy around 4 months ago. Without contacting me he sent those items with ground parcel and I could really pay 10 dollars more for airmail.. I still didnt receive items and probably they are long gone on the way here. Now I cant also get my money back from ebay as it is 4 months. By the way 1 month time is silly as it lasts more than 1 month from Canada to Turkey with ground parcel. Don't know what to do as I lost 2 valuable items and paid the amount for nothing.

Just be careful when if you shop from this guy, at least aggree on shipping terms.

Alarm bells should have been ringing there.

So, receive a best offer and decide to accept and send the invoice. 4 days later still no payment.

How long do you guys leave before chasing ?

Mate,

I give them max 4 days.

If they don't check out or contact me via email I open a case payment not received, at least their account will be marked as non payer

My personal rule is to always send tracked, no matter what anyone asks for. If they don't want to pay the extra then go elsewhere. It's just not worth the hassle. I'm finding it's becoming quite a nuisance selling on ebay, you have to really cover yourself from every possible angle which can be time consuming when creating listings and packing/sending parcels

Same here. I always send via registered mail, even if buyers don't pay for it. I know I'm practically losing money on almost every ebay sale these days this way, but its better than losing the steelbook and refunding.....

The other day a German ebay "buyer" called me a greedy "a$$hole", because I wanted 4,55 Euros (cost for registered postage in a stable cardboard box - I bought the box as well for 1,45....) postage for the now legendary Japanese "Matrix" that went to somebody else for 9,95. That somebody didn't mind paying actual shipping costs...the amount of creeps on ebay is increasing rapidly apparently...

thecodfather2142 one for the block list, zero feedback and non payment for a copy of uk 300, bid starting bid and didnt pay.
tigerclaw_3000 another non payer for saving private ryan bought on buy it now and then didnt pay.

does anybody know 5199digiacomo on ebay? takes a month to pay then claims item not received. it's very possible that the item did get lost, but it also seems very fishy

he has also left many negative feedback for other sellers claiming item not received (checked with toolhaus.org)

Just opened a parcel for my brother containing his ebay purchased In Time steelbook. It was wrapped in kitchen roll! Supposedly bought Like New but doesn't look it now. Not sure of the seller yet.
