Extended Edition details.

Of note:

13 minute extended cut
9 hours of special features
3D set is 5 discs.

Sounds like a nice set of bonus features, but the extended cut is much shorter than expected, which is a shame. Also, that 5 disc count has all but confirmed my steelbook worries. :(

RE-EDIT: Take a look at one of the new scenes from the extended cut:

I wonder will they be releasing a Steelbook that's not 3D
With extras that would be 3 Blu Ray Discs
That I would prefer as not interested in the 3D unless it had exclusive extras and in this case it does not

Previous was 2 Discs non 3D
Film and extras disc
3D version previous was 4 Blu ray discs
2 discs that were 3D and 1 Disc 2D Film and 1 Extras Disc
If you take away the 3D 2 blu Rays
It would now be a 3 Disc release
Extras are for those interested are on 2 Blu ray discs

This will be about as desirable as a turd floating in a swimming pool if they make it into a jumbo.

I was trying to think of a more tactful way to say this, but I applaud your pithy frankness, sir. :hilarious:

If it's a jumbo, I'll certainly be grabbing the digipack instead.

This will be about as desirable as a turd floating in a swimming pool if they make it into a jumbo.

Warners have shown that they aren't shy about bringing out a jumbo after the Batman Begins / TDK jumbo. That was numbered and ltd to 10k and did sell out.

Hopefully this won't be a jumbo but it is a possibility. Turd indeed, but these days turds seem to be en vogue :p

yeah, how do you know?? (but thanks anyways lol)

wonder if Bilbo's treasure chest will be up again (it has been removed) then, and at what price! It's insane the prices for this flick in Europe compared to the statue edition in the US (for example).
