I can confirm that this is region free!! 
It plays on my Irish Sony player. Also, the menus are in Japanese.

Packaging on this was very good. Opted for the 150 yen gift option. Came in a blue card envelope secured with polythene wrap inside a large flat box. Glad I picked this option for 'Pacific Rim', too.

i finalle got the chance to see this amazing film yesterday, how real this looks and the fact that is based on a true story is just so moving, on the other hand itg is so crude to watch that i'm not intent to do so again...awesome steelbook, it just great to see films that are not horror or blockbusters to get this treatment....
Crude in a way of how realistic it was for me to watch it. Cringe worthy when various objects stab into bodies...

The Japanese writing on the spine makes it more desirable.
ic, the Jp writing will make it a "true" jp exclusive, right?
Makes it's it a true Worldwide exclusive as no where else will have the Japanese Spine. Same for Dredd and Lockout.
You will not pay anymore. It's in their terms. You may get a slight refund 30-60 days after shipping if you've paid too much.
Got mine today. It's a really nice steelbook. When did Amazon JP stop caring about their packaging? It seems cheaper now (I ended up paying about $43 total with shipping) but they also just stuck it in an unpadded plastic DHL bag and hoped it would make it across the globe ok (It did, but still......).
I've been looking at getting this steelbook too, and from what I've read in the retailer thread about Amazon.co.jp, it seems best to select the gift wrap option if you're ordering just (1) steel. Seems they package and box it up if you go that route.
Still available at amazon.co.jp for 3651 Yen (just over £21). Add £7 for shipping and a further £7 for import fees.
