Also, i'm thinking ...that 4k figure play gave out, would only apply to their own stock. They have no business in the stock levels of other retailers, so the true print runs for these Universal steels must be significantly more than 4k?

Apparantly this is a sale of left over stock after Play didn't sell out, which is why Bourne was lists by Sainsburys then pulled, as Play sold out in December. So still a 4k print run... Mentioned by a few mods in the past

I agree, that's exactly what I thought. Anybody actually received any of these steelbooks other than from Play?

ok. ...still kinda weird to send back stock after only a few months. Mind you, the quality control for Hulk was pretty bad if i remember right. copies had paint chips all over the place

With everyone finally receiving the Avengers and posting pics of complete Avengers sets with The Incredible Hulk always included, this has been slowly moving up Play's best selling list. When this goes OOS, watch the price skyrocket!

I can't see it, I don't think any of this Universal wave will become highly desirable IMO. I'm not sure there's ever been a horizontal steelbook that became highly valued apart from Metropolis although prices are falling again on that.

This is now selling regularly at £40 on eBay. That's x4 what it cost 2 years ago, not a bad investment by any standards.
